Mannerheim Park, Seinäjoki
The Mannerheim Park ( fi, Mannerheimin puisto) is a small urban park located in the city center of Seinäjoki, Finland, near the Aalto Center and the Torikeskus shopping center. The Mannerheim Park is located at the corner of the Kirkkokatu and Koulukatu streets, next to Seinäjoki Lyceum. The Lakeudenpuisto park is located opposite the Mannerheim Park. The park is named after a statue of Marshal Mannerheim in the park. The statue, sculpted by Lauri Leppänen, was unveiled on June 4, 1955. It was originally erected on the central square, from where it was moved to its current location in 1973. is located in Seinäjoki at the corner of Kirkkokatu and Koulukatu, next to Seinäjoki Lyceum. During the renovation of the Mannerheim Park in 2014, the sculpture got a higher pedestal and got a little closer to the street edge. Seinäjoki
Seinäjoki (; "Wall River"; la, Wegelia, formerly sv, Östermyra) is a city located in South Ostrobothnia, Finland; east of Vaasa, north of Tampere, west of Jyväskylä and southwest of Oulu. Seinäjoki originated around the Östermyra bruk iron and gunpowder factories founded in 1798. Seinäjoki became a municipality in 1868, market town in 1931 and town in 1960. Aalto Center ( fi, Aaltokeskus) is the administrative and cultural center of the City of Seinäjoki, Finland. It comprises six buildings, designed by Alvar Aalto and mainly completed between 1960 and 1968. The center represents one of Aalto's most important works and is notable in Finland and even internationally as an architectural whole. The wooden plan of the center is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. History An architectural competition was organized in 1951 for the design of Seinäjoki's new church. Torikeskus (Seinäjoki Shopping Centre)
Torikeskus (; lit. "Market Center") is a shopping mall located in the center of Seinäjoki, Finland and it's the largest commercial centre in the South Ostrobothnia region. It was established in 1992 and renewed in 2007, 2009 and 2011-12. Torikeskus was previously owned by Citycon, which sold it in late 2013 to a local investor. The name of the shopping center comes from the Market Square in front of it. Torikeskus has about of leasable area, of which about is retail space. The center has specialty shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as the upper floors of offices in companies and agencies in various fields, which travel often takes place outside of the building through the stairwell. Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (, ; 4 June 1867 – 27 January 1951) was a Finnish military leader and statesman. He served as the military leader of the Whites in the Finnish Civil War of 1918, as Regent of Finland (1918–1919), as commander-in-chief of Finland's defence forces during the period of World War II (1939–1945), as Marshal of Finland (1942–), and as the sixth president of Finland (1944–1946). Mannerheim Park, Oulu
The Mannerheim Park is a small urban park in Vanhatulli district of Oulu, Finland. Renovations finished in 2019 changed the look of the park completely, and made it more suitable for small events. The park is a favorite hangout for many. The park is adjacent to the Kela building, and features a grill kiosk and a children's play area with rides and swings. The park was named after Marshal Mannerheim, the commander-in-chief of Finnish defense forces, in honour of his 75th birthday in 1942.
