South Ostrobothnia
South Ostrobothnia ( ; ) is one of the 19 regions of Finland. It borders the regions of Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, Central Finland, Pirkanmaa, and Satakunta. Among the Finnish regions, South Ostrobothnia is the ninth largest in terms of population. Seinäjoki is the regional centre and by far the largest city in the area. Seinäjoki City Hall
The Seinäjoki City Hall is the main municipal administrative building in the city of Seinäjoki, Finland. It is notable for having been designed by the renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Architecture The building is based on Aalto's 1959 winning entry into a design contest for the new Seinäjoki urban plan, and was completed three years later in 1962. It was comprehensively renovated in the 2010s, with the work finished in 2018. The exterior cladding of the main facade features dark blue ceramic tiles which appear to change colour under different lighting conditions. The city council assembly hall was designed to serve a dual purpose as a concert venue. Seinäjoki Airport
Seinäjoki Airport (; ) is an airport in Ilmajoki, Finland, about south-southwest of Seinäjoki city centre. The airport has been operated since 2016 by Seinäjoen Lentoasema Oy (Seinäjoki Airport Ltd). Before that (from 1976 to 2016) it was operated by Rengonharju-säätiö (Rengonharju Foundation). Facilities The airport resides at an elevation of above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 14/32 with an asphalt surface measuring . Airlines and destinations At the moment there are no scheduled flights and the traffic consists mainly of private business and charter flights, in addition to general aviation. Ilmajoki (; ) is a municipalities of Finland, municipality of Finland. Ilmajoki is a town and municipality situated in Finland's South Ostrobothnia region, founded in 1865. Ilmajoki has a population of 12,165 (28. February 2017)and covers an area of 579.79 km2 (223.86 sq mi), of which 2.89 km2 (1.12 sq mi) is water. The population density is 20.2 inhabitants per square kilometre (52.3 per sq mi). Ilmajoki borders the municipalities of Isokyrö, Kurikka, Laihia and Seinäjoki. Lakeuden Risti Church
Lakeuden Risti Church (; lit. "Cross of the Plains Church") is a Lutheran church located in Seinäjoki, Finland. The church was designed by Alvar Aalto and built between 1957–1960. It was the first finished building of the larger administrative and civic center also planned by Aalto, consisting of Seinäjoki town hall, a library, a theater and a state office building. Architecture The cathedral-like building seats 1200 people in the hall and 124 in the organ gallery. In the ''Gesamtkunstwerk'' spirit Aalto also designed silverware, antependiums, altar cloths and two stained glass paintings for the church. The cross-shaped bell tower from which the church gets its name is 65 meters high and a local landmark. Nurmo is a List of former municipalities of Finland, former municipality of Finland. It was consolidated, together with Ylistaro to Seinäjoki on 1 January 2009. It is located in the provinces of Finland, province of Western Finland and is part of the Southern Ostrobothnia regions of Finland, region.
