''Mania'' (1984 in music, 1984) is Menudo (band), Menudo's 15th album and their first one in Portuguese featuring Ricky Meléndez, Charlie Massó, Ray Reyes, Roy Rosselló, and Draco Rosa, Robby Rosa. The songs on this album are a selection from the group's previous four Spanish albums translated into Portuguese. This is the last album that Ricky Meléndez recorded as a member of the group. The album made success in Brazil, selling over 1 million copies there. Menudo (band)
Menudo is a Puerto Rican boy band that was formed in Puerto Rico by producer Edgardo Díaz. Referred to as the "Most Iconic Latino Pop Music Band", Menudo has been ranked as one of the Biggest Boy Bands of All Time by several publications, including '' Billboard'', ''Us Weekly'', '' Seventeen'', and '' Teen Vogue'', being the only Latin band on their lists. The band had several radio hits during its course. They acted in a television film (1979's ''Leyenda de Amor'') and two feature films, ''Una aventura llamada Menudo'' and '' Menudo: La Película'', in a telenovela named "Quiero Ser" and a television mini-series named ''Panchito y Arturo''. ''Reaching Out'' (1984) is the fourteenth studio album by the boy band Menudo, and their first in English. It features Ricky Meléndez, Charlie Massó, Ray Reyes, Roy Rosselló, and new member Robby Rosa. Robby replaced Johnny Lozada after Johnny reached the group's age limit. The songs on this album are selections from their last four Spanish language albums translated into English, with the exception of “Like A Cannonball″. This song was recorded for the soundtrack to the Burt Reynolds film ''Cannonball Run II''. Robby Rosa is the lead vocalist on six of the ten songs, being the only member fluent in the English language at the time. The album sold 425,000 copies in Brazil. ''Evolución'' is Menudo's 16th album (14th in Spanish). This album features new member Ricky Martin. Ricky Martin replaced Ricky Meléndez, the last member to exit from the original line-up. Ricky Meléndez was nearing his 17th birthday when it was decided who was going to be his replacement. Ricky Martin wasn't their first choice. Ray’s brother Raul Reyes was working the backup vocals and was considered to join the group, also Tico Santana was the name of a kid considered to join the group at that time, but for unknown reasons it was decided to give Ricky Martin the position. Ricky Meléndez (born Ricardo Omar Meléndez Saurí, November 22, 1967 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican singer, lawyer and actor, best known for his tenures as a member of boy band Menudo and of El Reencuentro. Career He was raised in Guaynabo. He became a member of Menudo at the age of nine. He was one of the original five in the group joined by his brothers Carlos and Oscar, and brothers Fernando and Nefty Salaberry. He is also the cousin of group founder Edgardo Díaz. As a member of Menudo, he acted in two films: '' Menudo: La Pelicula'' and ''Una Aventura Llamada Menudo''. Carlos Javier Rivera Masso (born June 13, 1969 in San Juan, Puerto Rico), better known as Charlie Masso, is a Puerto Rican singer and actor. Masso is a former member of Menudo, joining the band at the height of Menudo's worldwide fame. He replaced Rene Farrait and quickly became a fan favorite with his participation on the albums of ''Por Amor'' and ''Una Aventura Llamada Menudo'', which was the soundtrack of Menudo's second movie. Charlie recorded 14 albums with Menudo, two were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in 1984 and 85. Ray Reyes León (March 13, 1970 – April 30, 2021) was a Puerto Rican singer who was a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. Career He was born in New York City and was raised in Levittown, a neighborhood in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. He became a member of Menudo in early 1983. Reyes came to substitute Xavier Serbia in the band, and joined the band right in the middle of Menudo's golden era. Reyes amassed great popularity among Menudo fans, although he was known as the ''chubby one'' of the band. Draco Cornelius Rosa Suárez (; born Robert Edward Rosa Suárez, June 27, 1969), also known as Draco Rosa, Robi Draco Rosa or simply Robi or Draco, is a Puerto Rican singer, musician, songwriter and entrepreneur.
