MC Kinky
Caron Liza Geary (born 15 October 1963 in Paddington, London), known by various stage names, is an English female raggamuffin Deejay (Jamaican)#Toasting, toaster. She was the first white female reggae/dancehall MC. According to Geary, her first recorded appearance was on a cover of "Kid Ralph", a dancehall track by Little Twitch. The song talks about a "legendary" homosexual figure in Jamaica's prison system. She has subsequently worked as a solo artist and with other musicians, including Erasure and Boy George, who described her music as "the dirtiest 'slackest' reggae I'd heard since the seventies". Background Growing up in Marylebone, Geary lived adjacent to an after-hours party which blasted out reggae music; as a result, Geary was exposed to reggae from a very young age. Paddington
Paddington is an area within the City of Westminster, in Central London. First a medieval parish then a metropolitan borough, it was integrated with Westminster and Greater London in 1965. Towa Tei
is a Japanese artist, record producer, and DJ. Born in Yokohama, Japan, Towa debuted as a member of Deee-Lite, from the US label Elektra Records in 1990 and shot to fame via their international hit single, "Groove Is In the Heart". He made his solo debut with the album ''Future Listening!'' in 1994. He has since relocated back from New York to rural Nagano prefecture in Japan. Towa's second studio album, '' Sound Museum'' (1997), became his highest charting effort at number 17 on the ''Oricon'' charts. "Generations of Love" is a song by British band Jesus Loves You, founded by singer Boy George, and was released as the second single from their only album, '' The Martyr Mantras'' (1990). It also features raggamuffin toaster MC Kinky and made the UK Singles Chart in two versions; the "Land of Oz Mix" which peaked at number 80 in 1990 and the "La La Gone Gaga Mix" which peaked at number 35 in 1991. The 1990 version also peaked at number 11 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart, while the 1991 version peaked within the top 20 in the Netherlands and the top 30 in Austria and Belgium. "Get Over It" is the first solo single by MC Kinky. It charted at number 95 on the UK Singles Chart after being featured on an episode of Channel 4's '' The Word''. Background "Get Over It" is MC Kinky's first solo single after featuring on E-Zee Possee's " Everything Starts with an 'E'". It was written by MC Kinky and produced by her and Boy George (operating under the name 'The Hand of Jesus') with one version being released which had Apollo 440 on remixing duties. It was released on More Protein, a vanity label established by Boy George because no-one would release "Everything Starts with an 'E'". The song was performed on the series 1 finale of Channel 4's '' The Word''. The following week, it made No. 95 on the UK Singles Chart. Apollo 440
Apollo 440 (also known as Apollo Four Forty or @440) are a British electronic music group formed in Liverpool in 1990. The group has written, recorded, and produced five studio albums, collaborated with and produced other artists, remixed as Apollo 440 and as ambient cinematic alter-ego Stealth Sonic Orchestra, and created music for film, television, advertisements and multimedia. They notched up ten UK top 40 singles with three top-tens, and had a chart presence worldwide. Its name comes from the Apollo program and the frequency of concert pitch — the A note at 440 Hz, often denoted as " A440", and the Sequential Circuits sampler/sequencer, the Studio 440. Everything Starts With An 'E'
"Everything Starts with an 'E' is a song by E-Zee Possee featuring vocals from MC Kinky. It is considered by many to be the anthem of the acid house movement of the late 1980s, with the "E" in the title widely understood to refer to the drug Ecstasy (MDMA). The song began life as an instrumental interpretation of Jeremy Healy and Simon Rogers's idea of house music after a trip to Ibiza which upon being presented to Boy George had vocals added to it by MC Kinky, George and Eve Gallagher. This vocal version charted number 15 on the UK Singles Chart, and although a music video was created, it was rarely broadcast due to its controversial lyrical content. Marylebone
Marylebone (usually , also , ) is a district in the West End of London, in the City of Westminster. Oxford Street, Europe's busiest shopping street, forms its southern boundary. An ancient parish and latterly a metropolitan borough, it merged with the boroughs of Westminster and Paddington to form the new City of Westminster in 1965. Marylebone station lies two miles north-west of Charing Cross.
