München-Nürnberg-Express
The München-Nürnberg-Express (literally: ''Munich-Nuremberg Express'') is a RegionalExpress train service in the southern German state of Bavaria, connecting the two main cities of the state, Munich and Nuremberg. With its maximum speed of 200 km/h (125 mph), the train is currently () the fastest regional train service in Germany. The train was formerly known under the project name FRESH, expanding to FRanken-Express über die Schnellfahrstrecke in die LandesHauptstadt (''FRanconia Express via the High speed line to the state Capital''). Service The München-Nürnberg-Express has been in service since December 10, 2006. Between Ingolstadt and Nuremberg, the service uses the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt high-speed railway and continues to Munich on the Munich–Treuchtlingen railway. , the München-Nürnberg-Express is the only regional service to use a German high-speed line in its full length. Allersberg (Rothsee) Station
Allersberg (Rothsee) is a railway station situated at km 25.4 of the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt high-speed railway. The station is situated about 3 km west of the Middle Franconian town Allersberg, adjacent to the A 9 motorway. Together with Kinding (Altmühltal) (km 58.6) and Ingolstadt Nord (km 86.8) it is one of three regional stations on the high-speed line. It was opened on December 6, 2006, connecting Allersberg to the rail network again 33 years after the closure of the Burgthann–Allersberg railway. The station is administrated by the station management at Nuremberg station. Operational usage Trains call at the station since December 10, 2006. Prior to that date, the railway line was exclusively used by ICE trains that did not call at Allersberg. Ingolstadt Nord Station
Ingolstadt Nord station (also called the ''Nordbahnhof'' in German, meaning "North station") is the second operational passenger station in the town of Ingolstadt, in the state of Bavaria in southern Germany. The other station is Ingolstadt Hauptbahnhof. The station is entered in the official list of Deutsche Bahn station abbreviations as ''MIN'' and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station. The station is overseen by the station management at Rosenheim. Operationals importance The new high-speed railway from Ingolstadt to Nuremberg branches off the old Munich–Ingolstadt–Treuchtlingen ( timetable no. KBS 990). The high-speed tracks begin turning out even within the station limits in order to run into the Audi Tunnel which is immediately next to the station. Nuremberg–Ingolstadt High-speed Railway
The Nuremberg–Ingolstadt high-speed railway is a high-speed railway running between the cities of Nuremberg and Ingolstadt in Bavaria, Germany. It branches off the Nuremberg–Regensburg railway and runs parallel to the Bundesautobahn 9, A9 Autobahn to Ingolstadt, where it joins the Munich–Treuchtlingen railway at Ingolstadt Nord station. The line is an extension of the German Reunification Transport Projects, German Unity Transport Project No. 8 from Berlin via Halle/Leipzig and Erfurt to Nuremberg. The line is part of the Berlin–Palermo railway axis, Line 1 of Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T). The line was officially inaugurated on 13 May 2006. Ingolstadt Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt, situated in southern Germany. Ingolstadt station is an important junction in the Deutsche Bahn network. Kinding (Altmühltal) station is a regional station on the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt high-speed railway in the German state of Bavaria. It is located west of the Upper Bavarian market town of Kinding, near the Bundesautobahn 9, A 9 at the 58.6 mark (measured from Nuremberg). Allersberg-Express
Allersberg-Express was the brand name for the RegionalBahn train service between Nuremberg and Allersberg in Bavaria in southern Germany, operated by Deutsche Bahn. It started operations on 10 December 2006 and is one of the few regional trains to run on a German high-speed line. The total journey time was about fifteen minutes; the train was subject to the fare structure of the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg. The Allersberg-Express was also called the ''R9 Express'' on VGN network web site. With the December 2020 schedule change, the Allersberg Express was retitled S5 of the Nuremberg S-Bahn. The Munich–Treuchtlingen railway, also known as the Altmühlbahn (Altmühl Railway), is a railway line in the German state of Bavaria. As part of the new and upgraded Nuremberg–Ingolstadt–Munich line project, the Munich-Ingolstadt section is gradually being upgraded for a line speed of up to . History The history of the Altmühl Railway starts in 1833, when the former politician and economist Friedrich List unveiled his plans for a Germany-wide railway network. Even then he envisaged a direct connection from Munich via Ingolstadt to Nuremberg. During the next 25 years, these plans were considered by the council of the town of Eichstätt, in particular by Mayor Fehlner. InterRegio trains are semi-fast long-distance trains with more stops and usually lower prices than more upscale long-distance trains such as the InterCity (IC).
