Munir Awad
Munir Awad ( ar, منير عوض) is a Lebanon-born citizen of Sweden who was convicted of plotting a terrorist attack in Denmark. Munir Awad, and his fiancée were arrested in Kenya in 2007 when Ethiopian forces invaded Somalia and foreigners were detained as suspected terrorists. In 2009 police who arrested them in Pakistan found a suicide belt in their luggage. On December 29, 2010 Awad was arrested in Denmark and in 2012 was found guilty of plotting a terrorist attack in revenge for ''Jyllands-Postens publication of Muhammad cartoons. Arrested in Kenya Munir Awad, and his fiancée (daughter of Helena Hummasten, head of the Muslim Council of Sweden), were arrested in Kenya on January 18, 2007 having fled Somalia after Ethiopian forces, with United States support, invaded Somalia. Raymond Bonner (born April 11, 1942) is an American author and investigative reporter who has been a staff writer at ''The New York Times'', ''The New Yorker'' and has contributed to ''The New York Review of Books''. His latest book, ''Anatomy of Injustice: A Murder Case Gone Wrong,'' was published by Knopf in February 2012. Early life Bonner graduated from MacMurray College in Illinois, in 1964, where he majored in Political Science. He lettered in soccer, track and cross country. 2010 Copenhagen Terror Plot
The 2010 Copenhagen terror plot was a terrorist plot against ''Jyllands-Posten'', the publisher of the controversial cartoons of Muhammad in 2005. Background In December the most serious terror operation ever uncovered in Denmark before the 2015 Copenhagen shootings was thwarted by a successful cooperation between security services in Denmark and Sweden. Police, accompanied by bomb experts, conducted several raids and detained five men, who were described as militant islamists. Automatic weapons, together with ammunition and silencers, were seized by the police. Plastic strips to use as handcuffs were also found. Mehdi Mohammad Ghezali ( ar, مهدي محمد غزالي), in media previously known as the Cuban-Swede ( sv, Kubasvensken), is a Swedish citizen of Algerian and Finnish descent who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camp in Cuba between January 2002 and July 2004. Ghezali claimed to have been "physically and mentally tortured" at Guantanamo.
