Mulkkusaaret
Mulkkusaaret (literally translates to ''Dick Islands'' or ''Penis Islands'') is a group of three small islands and one rock in lake Oulujärvi in the Paltamo municipality in Finland. The islands are located north of Tevä island, approximately south-southwest from Melalahti village and approximately north-northwest from Paltaniemi village. The islands form a chain in northeast-southwest direction, and are mostly covered by boreal forests. Open cliff coasts can be found on all three islands, mainly on the south sides. Oulujärvi
Oulujärvi (; sv, Ule träsk; also known as Lake Oulu) is a large lake in the Kainuu region of Finland. With an area of it is the fifth largest lake in the country. The lake is drained by the Oulu River, which flows northwestward from the lake into the Gulf of Bothnia. Its nickname is the "Kainuu Sea", and it is bordered by the three municipalities of Vaala, Paltamo and Kajaani. About 40 percent of the lake is in Vaala. Maaseudun Tulevaisuus
''Maaseudun Tulevaisuus'' (''MT''; Finnish: ''the Rural Future'') is a Finnish language newspaper published three times per week in Helsinki, Finland. History and profile ''Maaseudun Tulevaisuus'' was first published in 1916. The Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners is the owner of the paper. Its publisher is Viestilehdet Oy, which is owned by the Union. The paper has a correspondent in Brussels since 1995 when Finland became a member of the European Union. Paltamo
Paltamo ( sv, Paltamo, also ) is a municipality of Finland. It is part of the Kainuu region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . There are two built-up areas in the municipality: Kontiomäki and Paltamo. Kontiomäki has about 600 inhabitants. It is from Paltamo to Kajaani and to Oulu. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. History Paltamo was first inhabited 8,500 years ago. The most sophisticated finding yet has been a weapon shaped like a bear's head. In 1552 king Gustav Vasa gave an order in which the areas of the Lake Oulu were to be inhabited. 140 families left there. In 1555 it was counted that there were 133 families living in Paltamo. The picture church of Paltamo was built in 1726 by Johan Simonpoika Knubb. It was the fourth church on the site. Paltaniemi
Paltaniemi is a village on the shores of Lake Oulujärvi, about north of the Kajaani's town center in Kainuu, Finland. It has a population of 291 inhabitants (in December 2020). The Kajaani Airport is located in the eastern side of the village. From the 17th century until the end of the 19th century, Paltaniemi was the spiritual center of Kainuu, where the most important priests and officials of the parish lived. Paltaniemi's current wooden church, completed in 1726, is the village's third; the first church was destroyed in an earthquake in 1626 and the second church was burned by the Russians during the Great Wrath in 1716. Paltaniemi belonged to Paltamo municipality until 1954, before the village was incorporated into Kajaanin maalaiskunta. Paltaniemi is especially known as the birthplace of the Finnish poet Eino Leino, and the Eino Leino House museum is located on the site of his former birthplace.
