Movie Furnace (Tanuulu) is a Uganda-based non-profit short film competition, for Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre alumni (MNFPAC) founded by Mariam Ndagire. The program involves film production, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, sound recording and acting, The winning team headed by the director wins 1000 USD. History Movie Furnace was established in 2012. The first winner was Bigaruka Hakim with his movie ''Bloody Sunset''. The second round was won by Usama Mukwaya with his film In Just Hours. The 3rd Season was won by Sewava Ivan with his movie LIFT FROM HELL References

MNFPAC
Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre is a Uganda-based training film initiative for emerging filmmakers and mentorship programme for aspiring filmmakers and youth in Uganda. It encompasses film production, screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, sound recording, and acting. Origins MNFPAC was established in 2010 by film producer and singer Mariam Ndagire. MNFPAC aims at improving and elevating Uganda's entertainment industry through nurturing committed, honest and disciplined artistes. Mariam Ndagire
Mariam Ndagire (born 16 May 1971), is a Ugandan singer, entertainer, actress, playwright, film director, and film producer. Beginnings and education She was born in Kampala, Uganda's capital city, to Sarah Nabbutto and Buganda's Prince Kizito Ssegamwenge. She attended ''Buganda Road Primary School'', before transferring to ''Kampala High School'', where she completed her O-level education. For her A-Level studies, she attended Trinity College Nabbingo, in Wakiso District, where she graduated with a High School Diploma. She went on to obtain a Higher Diploma in Marketing from Makerere University Business School in Nakawa. Later, she was awarded a ''Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama'', from Makerere University, Uganda's oldest and largest public university. Usama Mukwaya
Usama () "Osam" Nyanzi Mukwaya (born 12 December 1989) is a Ugandan screenwriter, film director, producer, actor and former television host. His major films include ''Bala Bala Sese'', directed by Lukyamuzi Bashir with which Mukwaya is credited as the film's writer and producer. The film was nominated at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Film in an African Language. He launched his filmmaking career with the short film ''Hello'' that won overall best film in the 2010 MNFPAC Students Awards. His directorial debut is ''Love Faces'' which was released in January 2018. From 2018-2022, Usama served as chief content officer for Stream Afrique, a subscription-based streaming platform which offers online streaming of majorly African content. ''In Just Hours'' is a Ugandan short drama film written and directed by Usama Mukwaya. Produced through the Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre under the Movie Furnace project, the movie won the best film in the competition's second season. It premiered in the Nile Diaspora International Film Festival and later screened at the Manya Human Rights Film Festival.
