Movicel
Movicel is the smaller of the two Angolan mobile phone companies. Its official name is ''Movicel Telecomunicações S.A.''. Movicel was originally created on July 1, 2003, as a subsidiary of the state-owned Angola Telecom. In 2010, 80% of the company's capital was sold to various private companies: Portmil - Investimentos e Telecomunicações, S.A., Modus Comunicar, S.A., Ipangue, S.A., Lambda Investment and Novatel Wireless. The remaining 20% remain in the hands of the state-owned (''empresa publica'') companies Angola Telecom and ENCTA. The seat of the company is the capital city Luanda. Movicel sells its services via a network of shops; recharging cards for pre-paid contracts are also sold by individual street sellers. Angola Telecom is a telecommunications and Internet service provider of Angola. Angola Telecom is an ''empresa publica'', i.e. wholly owned by the Angolan state. Unitel S.A. is a private Angolan mobile phone company which was established on 8 March 2001 as a joint-stock company. The company is owned by the Angolan state, having been nationalised in 2022. Operations and location The seat of the company is Luanda. It has about 2.000 employees and a network coverage nearly in all the provincial municipalities since 2002. Unitel sells its services via a network of shops; recharging cards for pre-paid contracts are also sold by individual street sellers all over Angola. Kwanza
The kwanza (sign: Kz; ISO 4217 code: ) is the currency of Angola. Four different currencies using the name kwanza have circulated since 1977. The currency derives its name from the Kwanza River (Cuanza, Coanza, Quanza). Overview First kwanza, AOK, 1977-1990 Kwanza was introduced following Angolan independence. It replaced the escudo at par and was subdivided into 100 ''lwei''. Its ISO 4217 code was ''AOK''. Coins The first coins issued for the kwanza currency did not bear any date of issue, although all bore the date of independence, "11 de Novembro de 1975". The Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third generation mobile cellular system for networks based on the GSM standard. General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a packet oriented mobile data standard on the 2G and 3G cellular communication network's global system for mobile communications (GSM). GPRS was established by European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in response to the earlier CDPD and i-mode packet-switched cellular technologies.
