Motti Cohen
Motti Cohen () is an Israeli police officer, who served as the 18th Commissioner of Israel Police from December 2018 to December 31, 2020. Career In October 2014, Cohen was made Head of the Central District Police. Commissioner of Israel Police Cohen was appointed Commissioner of Israel Police in December 2018, succeeding Roni Alsheikh. In November 2019, Cohen backed Lahav 433 after 80 former senior police officers wrote an open letter condemning "violent discourse against police and law enforcement agencies". Cohen's term as Commissioner was set to expire on September 30, 2020. However, he was handed an extension until March 30, 2021 or until a permanent replacement is appointed. In October 2020, Cohen dismissed accusations Israel Police were heavy handed in policing protesters at anti-Netanyahu demonstrations. The Israel Police ( he, משטרת ישראל, ''Mišteret Yisra'el''; ar, شرطة إسرائيل, ''Shurtat Isrāʼīl'') is the civilian police force of Israel. As with most other police forces in the world, its duties include crime fighting, traffic control, maintaining public safety, and counter-terrorism. Kobi Shabtai
Yaakov ‘Kobi’ Shabtai (Hebrew: יעקב (קובי) שבתאי) (born November 11, 1964) is an Israeli police officer, and the 19th Commissioner of Israel Police since January 17, 2021. Prior to that, he served as Commander of the Border Police. Biography Kobi Shabtai was born on November 11, 1964, in Ashkelon, Israel, to Iraqi Jewish immigrants. He is married with three daughters, including one who serves as a patrol officer in the police and another who enlisted in the Israel Border Police for her national service. Career Shabtai was enlisted in the 202nd Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade in 1982. He was discharged in 1987 at the end of his service at the rank of ''Sgan aluf''. Shabtai joined the Israel Border Police in 1991. In July 2020, Shabtai was diagnosed with COVID-19. Roni Alsheikh
Roni Alsheikh (or Roni Alsheich, he, רוני אלשיך, born 20 March 1963) is an Israeli former intelligence officer and head of the Israel Police. After serving as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces, Alsheikh joined Shin Bet and rose to become its deputy head before being appointed General Commissioner of the Israel Police, serving in the role from 2015 to 2018. Biography Alsheikh was born in 1963 in Jerusalem. His father, Avraham Alsheikh, was a Yemenite-Jewish immigrant who came to Israel as part of Operation Magic Carpet, and his mother, Ahuva Amar, was born in Jerusalem to a family of Moroccan-Jewish origin. Known as the "Israeli FBI", the unit is the merger of five law enforcement offices into one.
