Morgan J. Rielly is an American politician and author serving as a member of the Maine House of Representatives from the 127th district. First elected to represent the 34th District in November 2020, he assumed office on December 2, 2020. Due to redistricting, his district was redrawn to be the 127th district, which he won in the 2022 Maine House of Representatives election. Early life and education Born and raised in Westbrook, Maine, Rielly attended Westbrook High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion and government from Bowdoin College. Career Outside of politics, Rielly has worked as a paralegal with an immigration law firm. He authored his first book, about World War II veterans from Maine in 2014. His second, about immigrants in Maine, was co-written by Reza Jalali and released in 2021. Westbrook, Maine
Westbrook is a city in Cumberland County, Maine, United States and a suburb of Portland. The population was 20,400 at the 2020 census, making it the fastest-growing city in Maine between 2010 and 2020. It is part of the Portland– South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. History Originally known as Saccarappa after Saccarappa Falls on the Presumpscot River, it was a part of Falmouth until February 14, 1814, when it was set off and incorporated as Stroudwater. It soon changed its name to Westbrook after Colonel Thomas Westbrook, a commander during Father Rale's War and King's mast agent who was an early settler and mill operator. In 1871, the town of Westbrook amicably split into two municipalities; the current Westbrook and Deering, which was then annexed by Portland in 1898. In 1891, Westbrook was incorporated as a city. Bowdoin College
Bowdoin College ( ) is a private liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. When Bowdoin was chartered in 1794, Maine was still a part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The college offers 34 majors and 36 minors, as well as several joint engineering programs with Columbia, Caltech, Dartmouth College, and the University of Maine. Maine House Of Representatives
The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Because it is a part-time position, members of the Maine House of Representatives usually have outside employment as well. The 2022 Maine House of Representatives elections took place on November 8, 2022 alongside the biennial 2022 United States elections, United States elections.
