Mont Yamaska
Mont Yamaska (in English, Mount Yamaska) (in Abenaki, Wigwômadenekhttp://www.toponymie.gouv.qc.ca/ct/pdf/la%20toponymie%20des%20Abenaquis.pdf?ts=0.14881141134537756 ) is part of the Monteregian Hills in southern Quebec. Its summit stands above sea level. This mountain is largely covered with deciduous forest dominated by sugar maple. Some apple orchards are raised on lower slopes. Geology Mont Yamaska is composed of igneous rock and hornfels. The igneous rock is mostly mafic with much gabbro, essexite, and a titanium-rich pyroxenite. There also is a small area of nepheline syenite. Gabbro () is a phaneritic (coarse-grained), mafic intrusive igneous rock formed from the slow cooling of magnesium-rich and iron-rich magma into a holocrystalline mass deep beneath the Earth's surface. Yamaska National Park
Yamaska National Park (French: Parc national de la Yamaska) is a provincial park centered on the man-made Choinière Reservoir. It is located in the municipalities of Roxton Pond and Saint-Joachim-de-Shefford in La Haute-Yamaska Regional County Municipality, just northeast of Granby, Quebec. Activities The parks proximity to Montreal (only 94 km) make it a popular destination for outdoor activities in all seasons. Nepheline syenite is a holocrystalline plutonic rock that consists largely of nepheline and alkali feldspar.
