Monica Day
Monica Day (born Monica Day Hillegass; July 5, 1982) is a Columbus, Ohio broadcaster who competed in the Miss USA pageant in 2008. Early life Day was born in Palm Beach, Florida to Jim Hillegass and Linda Sapp. Day is a 2000 graduate of Whitehall-Yearling High School in Whitehall, Ohio where she was raised by her mother and her stepfather Charles Boggs. Day's grandfather is Bill Sapp, a central Ohio restaurateur who, with his partner Lee Henry, established The Top steakhouse, The Kahiki and The Wine Cellar restaurant in the 1950s and 1960s. Pageant experience She was successful after previously placing as a semi-finalist in the pageant in 2003, 2004 and 2006 and making the Top 5 at Miss Ohio Teen USA 2000 (under the name Monica Day-Boggs). Miss Ohio USA
The Miss Ohio USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Ohio in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. It has previously been known as Miss Ohio Universe. It is produced by Proctor Productions. The pageant is currently held in Springfield and has previously been hosted by Mentor, Steubenville and Portsmouth. Two Ohio representatives, Sue Downey in 1965 and Kim Seelbrede in 1981, have won the Miss USA title and competed in the Miss Universe pageant. The most notable Miss Ohio USA is actress and Oscar winner Halle Berry, who was 1st runner up at Miss USA 1986. Miss Ohio Teen USA
The Miss Ohio Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Ohio in the Miss Teen USA pageant and the name of the title held by that winner. Most recently the pageant has been held in Springfield, Ohio and was previously held in Portsmouth for 14 years. Contestants compete in three competition segments: swimsuit, interview, and evening gown. Prizes include a scholarship to Lindenwood University. Their first Miss Teen USA title came in 2005 Allie LaForce won the national crown, Ohio's first placement since 1993. LaForce went on to become a successful sports broadcaster. The state has won one special award, Miss Congeniality in 1997. Ohio was one of the last ten states to make their first placement. Miss USA 2008 was the 57th Miss USA pageant, held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 11, 2008. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, Crystle Stewart of Texas was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder Rachel Smith of Tennessee. Crystle represented the United States at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, which was held in Vietnam, where she placed in the Top 10. This was also the first time in the pageant's 56-year history that two consecutive women of African Americans have been crowned. Whitehall-Yearling High School
Whitehall-Yearling High School is a public high school located in Whitehall, Ohio, United States. History In 1954, Whitehall-Yearling High School admitted its first students. Work on the school was still going on while classes were in session. Classrooms were filled as they were completed. The graduating class of 1958 was the first class that was able to attend all twelve years of schooling in Whitehall. Whitehall-Yearling High School quickly distinguished itself in many areas. The fine arts continues to be one of the outstanding programs of the Whitehall City Schools. By 1968, the Whitehall School District had built the last of its current schools.
