Moka (district)
Moka () is a district of Mauritius, situated in the central plateau of the island. The district has an area of 230.5 km2 and the population estimate was at 83,664 as at the end of 2019. The Districts of the Republic of Mauritius are the second-level administrative divisions after the Outer Islands of Mauritius. Mauritius Island Mauritius Island is divided into nine districts which consist of one city, four towns, and 130 villages. Its capital is Port Louis. Plaines Wilhems () is a district of Mauritius. It is the most populous district, with its population estimated at 366,506 as the end of 2018. The district is mainly urban; it consists of four towns, the village of Midlands and part of two other villages. The Plaines Wilhems district does not have a District Council; it has four Municipal Town Councils. The towns are Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes and Vacoas-Phoenix. The villages are Midlands, Cascavelle (East - West in Rivière Noire district) and Moka (West- East in Moka district). The district was named after Wilhem Leicknig. Verdun (, , , ; official name before 1970 ''Verdun-sur-Meuse'') is a large city in the Meuse department in Grand Est, northeastern France. It is an arrondissement of the department. St. Pierre (St Peter) is a village in the district of Moka in Mauritius.It is considered to be found in the heart of Mauritius.The climatic conditions is cold and ideal especially during summer with cold breeze. The village has significantly changed over the years with a new shopping centre, namely Kendra, gyms, driving more traffic to the village. With a growing population, Saint-Pierre is gradually starting to look like a town. The bus station is situated within walking distance to the market, the Kendra shopping centre, the mosque, but a bit further from the local primary and secondary schools, which will require travellers to stop further or to get on another connecting bus. Quartier Militaire is a village in the centre of Mauritius, found in the Moka District. It houses the region's District Council. Its quarters and suburbs include Bonne Veine, Esperance, Quartier Militaire (village), Esperance, Providence, Vuillemin. Environment Quartier Militaire is known for its cold temperature in Mauritius.
