Mohamed Dia
Mohamed Dia (born 5 August 1973, in the Sarcelles) is a Franco-Malian designer of sport clothing (sportswear and streetwear), founder of the M.Dia brand. In 1999, he founded M.Dia, a new brand of sport clothing with his own savings in Sarcelles, in the outskirts of Paris. French popular rap groups such as Secteur Ä or Ministère AMER supported him and spread his brand wearing his products. That attracted the attention of French mass media which soon depicted him as some sort of role model for youngsters from impoverished neighborhoods. In 2001, he signed a license with NBA and created a new textile collection : ''NBA by DIA''. That allowed him to enter the American market and then to open his first shop in the United States in 2004. Sarcelles
Sarcelles () is a commune in the northern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris. Sarcelles is a sub-prefecture of the Val-d'Oise department and the seat of the arrondissement of Sarcelles. In the south of the commune, during the 1950s and 1960s, vast housing estates were built in order to accommodate ''pieds-noirs'' (French settlers from Algeria) and Jews who had left Algeria due to its war of independence. A few Jews from Egypt settled there after the Suez crisis, and Jews from Tunisia and Morocco settled in Sarcelles after unrest and riots against Jews due to the Six-Day War and to the Yom Kippur War. Secteur Ä was a 1990s French rap association based in Sarcelles, France and named after a sector in the region. This music collective was created by the Ministère AMER, and artist Kenzy became its producer-manager. The association was made up of artists mainly coming from Val-d'Oise region (Garges-lès-Gonesse, Sarcelles and Villiers-le-Bel). It was composed of the rappers Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Doc Gynéco, Ärsenik (Lino & Calbo), Nèg' Marrons (Jacky, Ben J and Djamatik), Hamed Daye, MC Janik and La Clinique. In 1998, they found great success with a series of gigs including a major appearance at Paris Olympia on 22–23 May 1998 on the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. Ministère AMER
The Ministère AMER (Action, Musique Et Rap) is a French hip hop group from Sarcelles, consisting of the rappers Passi and Stomy Bugsy (both of whom are also major solo artists in the French hip hop scene), DJ Ghetch, and the producer/manager Kenzy. Ärsenik
Ärsenik is a rap group based in Villiers-le-Bel, France, founded in 1992, and made up of two brothers, Lino (Gaëlino M'Bani) and Calbo (Calboni M'Bani), whose family is originally from Congo. Career Ärsenik started as a band in mid 1990s. Until 1997, the group also included Tony Truand, a cousin. In 1998, now a duo, Ärsenik released their first album ''Quelques gouttes suffisent'' went double gold. A new album was planned for 2005, but the two brothers instead decided to concentrate on solo albums.
