Moetai Brotherson
Moetai Charles Brotherson (born 22 October 1969) is a French Polynesian politician who has served as President of French Polynesia since 12 May 2023. He had previously represented French Polynesia's 3rd constituency in the French National Assembly from the 2017. A member of Tāvini Huiraʻatira, he had also served as a member of the Assembly of French Polynesia from 2018. Brotherson has been deputy leader of Tāvini Huiraʻatira since 2017 under the leadership of former President of French Polynesia Oscar Temaru. Following the 2023 French Polynesian legislative election, Brotherson was elected President of French Polynesia by the Assembly of French Polynesia. He supports French Polynesia peacefully gaining independence from France through a local referendum possibly to be held in the 2030s. 2023 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Elections to the Assembly of French Polynesia are scheduled to be held in 2023 in order to elect 57 representatives to the Assembly of French Polynesia. Deputies ( French: ''députés''), also known in English as Members of Parliament (MPs), are the legislators who sit in the National Assembly, the lower house of the French Parliament. Tapura Huiraatira () is a political party in French Polynesia. It was founded on 20 February 2016 by members of Tahoera'a Huiraatira (french: Rassemblement populaire), a parliamentary coalition in the Assembly of French Polynesia. It is chaired by Édouard Fritch, the President of French Polynesia. Its first congress was attended by 8,000 people, including 38 Polynesian mayors. 2008 French Municipal Elections
The French municipal elections of 2008 were held on 9 and 16 March to elect the municipal councils of France's 36,782 communes. The first task of each newly constituted municipal council was to elect a mayor. Municipal councilors, and the mayors they elect, ordinarily serve a term of six years. However those who took office following the last municipal elections, held on 11 and 18 March 2001, had their terms extended to seven years by an Act of the French parliament designed to avoid an overloading of the electoral calendar in 2007. Results The left gained back grounds lost in 2001 and in previous elections and sent a message of warning to President Nicolas Sarkozy, in power since 2007. Antony Géros
Antony Daniel Teva Géros (born 22 July 1956) is a French Polynesian politician and former Cabinet Minister. He has served as vice-president of French Polynesia three times, and as President of the Assembly of French Polynesia twice. Since 2020 he has served as Mayor of Paea. He is a member of pro-independence party Tavini Huiraatira. Early life Géros was born in Papeete and worked as secretary of the town of Faaa before entering politics. He joined the pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira party in 1986, and has served on the municipal council of Paea since 1995. Émile André Vernaudon (born 8 December 1943) is a former French Polynesian politician and Council of Ministers (French Polynesia), Cabinet Minister. The leader of the Aia Api party, he served as President of the Assembly of French Polynesia twice, first from 1981 to 1983, and the second time from 1991 to 1992. He served as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications in the Council of Ministers (French Polynesia), Cabinet of Oscar Temaru. He represented French Polynesia's 2nd constituency in the French National Assembly twice, from 1988 to 1993, and again from 1997 to 2002. From 1977 to 2008 he served as Mayor of Mahina, French Polynesia, Mahina.
