Antony Géros
Antony Daniel Teva Géros (born 22 July 1956) is a French Polynesian politician and former Cabinet Minister. He has served as vice-president of French Polynesia three times, and as President of the Assembly of French Polynesia twice. Since 2020 he has served as Mayor of Paea. He is a member of pro-independence party Tavini Huiraatira. Early life Géros was born in Papeete and worked as secretary of the town of Faaa before entering politics. He joined the pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira party in 1986, and has served on the municipal council of Paea since 1995. He first entered the Assembly of French Polynesia in November 1999 as a replacement for Alexandre Léontieff, who had been convicted of corruption. He was re-elected at the 2001 election. Alexandre Léontieff
Alexandre Léontieff (October 20, 1948 – March 2, 2009) was a French politician and the President of French Polynesia from 1987 to 1991. Biography Personal life Léontieff was born on October 20, 1948, at Teahupo'o, Tahiti, near the world famous surfing location. He obtained a degree in economics from the University of Rennes in 1970. Léontieff was of Russian ancestry and the brother of French Polynesian politician Boris Léontieff, a one time cabinet minister in the government of Gaston Flosse and former mayor of Arue, French Polynesia. Boris Léontieff later became the leader of his own political party, Fetia Api. He is believed to have been killed in a small plane crash in May 2002 while on a political campaign trip in the Tuamotu Archipelago. The plane's wreckage and passengers have never been found. United Nations List Of Non-self-governing Territories

2018 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in French Polynesia on 22 April and 6 May 2018. On 22 April 2018, voters cast their ballots in the first round of the election to the Assembly of French Polynesia. A second round was held on 6 May 2018 for the three political parties that exceeded 12.5 percent of the vote in the first round. The new Tapura Huiraatira party emerged as the largest in the Assembly, winning 38 of the 57 seats. 2013 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in French Polynesia on 21 April and 5 May 2013. The result was a victory for the Tahoera'a Huiraatira party, which won 38 of the 57 seats in the Assembly. Electoral system The election was held using a two round system. In the first round, parties were required to cross a threshold of 12.5% in order to participate in the second round, although parties receiving between 5% and 12.5% were allowed to form an alliance for the second round with a party that did qualify. Pierre Frébault
Pierre Frébault (born 27 October 1959) is a French Polynesian civil servant, politician, and former Cabinet Minister. He is a member of Tavini Huiraatira. Frébault served as leader of the Confederation of Polynesian Workers' Unions (CSTP-FO) before entering politics. In 2005 he served as Labour Minister in the government of Oscar Temaru, and later in the government of Gaston Tong Sang. In the 2007 French legislative election he was a Tavini candidate for French Polynesia's 2nd constituency, but lost to Bruno Sandras. He stood again as a candidate in the 2012 French legislative election. He was elected to the Assembly of French Polynesia at the 2008 French Polynesian legislative election. Following the election he was briefly appointed to the short-lived cabinet of Gaston Flosse, then returned to the Assembly after the Flosse government's collapse. Gaston Flosse
Gaston Flosse (born 24 June 1931) is a French politician who has been President of French Polynesia on five separate occasions. He is currently a member of the Senate of France and has been a French junior minister under Jacques Chirac. He received sentences for corruption, which are under appeal. Life and career Flosse was born in Rikitea, Mangareva, French Polynesia. He is of both French and Polynesian descent. Flosse supports the current autonomy arrangement between French Polynesia and France and has led the conservative pro-autonomy and anti-independence party Tahoera'a Huiraatira (People's Rally for the Republic Party) for more than 20 years. He was the vice-president of the government council from 1982 to 1984, when more autonomy was gained and he became President of the Governing Council. 2008 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Early legislative elections were held in French Polynesia in early 2008. The first round was held on 27 January, with the second round on 10 February. The early elections was the first one to be conducted under a reformed electoral system.
