Moab () is the largest city and county seat of Grand County in eastern Utah in the western United States, known for its dramatic scenery. The population was 5,366 at the 2020 census. The Abajo Mountains, sometimes referred to as the Blue Mountains, is a small mountain range west of Monticello, Utah, south of Canyonlands National Park and north of Blanding, Utah. The mountain range is located within the Manti–La Sal National Forest. The highest point within the range is Abajo Peak at . This mountain range, like both the La Sal Range and Henry Mountains in the same part of the Colorado Plateau, is formed about igneous intrusions that are relatively resistant to erosion. La Sal Mountains
The La Sal Mountains or La Sal Range are a mountain range located in Grand and San Juan counties in the U.S. state of Utah, along the border with Colorado. The range rises above and southeast of Moab and north of the town of La Sal. This range is part of the Manti-La Sal National Forest and the southern Rocky Mountains. The maximum elevation is at Mount Peale, reaching above sea level. The range contains three clusters of peaks separated by passes. The peaks span a distance of about . Courtney Dauwalter
Courtney Dauwalter (born February 13, 1985) is an American ultramarathon runner. Early life Dauwalter was raised in Hopkins, Minnesota and competed in track, cross-country, and nordic skiing in high school. She was a four-time Minnesota state champion in nordic skiing during her high school career. She attended the University of Denver on a cross-country skiing scholarship, and then earned a master's degree in teaching from the University of Mississippi in 2010 while participating in the Mississippi Teacher Corps. Dauwalter worked as a middle and high-school teacher in the Denver area before becoming a full-time professional runner in 2017. Ultrarunning In 2016, Dauwalter set a course record at the Javelina Jundred 100K and won the Run Rabbit Run 100-mile race, finishing 75 minutes ahead of second place. Michele Graglia is a model, author, fitness coach, and ultra marathon runner. His book ''Ultra'' was published by Sperling & Kupfer in May 2017. Originally from Taggia, Liguria, Italy, Graglia became an international model represented by Major Model Management in New York and the now defunct Irene Marie Model Management in Miami, FL, where he was initially discovered. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California. On July 24, 2018, Graglia completed and won the Badwater 135. He finished the race in a time of 24:51:47. On September 15, 2018, Graglia started the ultramarathon across Chile's Atacama Desert. The translation company TransPerfect sponsored his run. Following the run, Graglia was officially certified as the new Guinness Book World Record holder for the fastest-ever crossing of Chile's Atacama Desert on foot. Annie Hughes
Annie Hughes is an American ultrarunner, based in Leadville, Colorado. She is the youngest woman to win the Leadville 100 and Moab 240 races, and previously held the fastest known time for the Collegiate Loop. Life and running career Hughes attended Adams State University and ran track there for a year. She ran her first ultra while in university. Jeff Browning
Jeff Browning is an American ultramarathon runner and coach. After moving to Bend, Oregon, Browning transitioned from mountain biking to ultrarunning, and has since won more than two dozen 100 mile races. Previously a graphic designer, Browning has been a professional runner and coach since 2017. He was listed as one of the top 10 ultrarunners of the year by ''Ulrarunning Magazine'' in 2019, 2021, and 2022, and is the oldest runner ever to be included in these awards. He attributes his success and longevity in the sport to not only a high volume of running, but an additional focus on cross training, strength and mobility work, and adherence to a low carb, high fat diet.
