The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), founded in 1938, is the governing association of community college, state college and junior college athletics throughout the United States. Currently the NJCAA holds 24 separate regions across 24 states and is divided into 3 divisions. History The idea for the NJCAA was conceived in 1937 at Fresno, California. A handful of junior college representatives met to organize an association that would promote and supervise a national program of junior college sports and activities consistent with the educational objectives of junior colleges. East Central College
East Central College (ECC) is a Public college, public community college with its main campus in Union, Missouri. It also offers classes in Rolla, Missouri, Rolla and Washington, Missouri, Washington. Approximately 2,100 students are enrolled in classes each semester. ECC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. History East Central College was founded in 1968 to serve the educational needs of the people in east central Missouri. As of Fall 2019, Jefferson College enrollment includes 4,179 full and part-time college credit students. History The history of Jefferson College began in the spring of 1961 with the passage of Senate Bill Number Seven, presented by Senator Earl Blackwell of Hillsboro, made possible the formation and financing of public junior colleges in Missouri. Mineral Area College is a public community college in Park Hills, Missouri. Students can complete a wide variety of certificate and 2-year degree programs. Students may transfer to four-year institutions to complete bachelor's degree programs or they may participate in the 2+2 programs offered on campus by Central Methodist University or University of Missouri-St. Louis. The school enrolled 2,640 students in 2019. History MACC was founded in 1927 as Moberly Junior College as a part of the Moberly Public School system. Temporary facilities housed the classes until 1931 when a permanent building was constructed on 29 acres, which would today be the current MACC campus. The college experienced rapid growth in the 1970s and 1980s, especially after a public vote led to the establishment of a community college district encompassing a 16-county area in northern and central Missouri. State Fair Community College is a public community college in Sedalia, Missouri, adjacent to the Missouri State Fairgrounds. North Central Missouri College
North Central Missouri College (formerly Trenton Junior College) is a public community college in Trenton, Missouri. Founded in 1925, the campus has grown to include nine buildings used as instruction facilities, library and testing center, a tutoring center, a community center, a student center, a career center, an art gallery, two residence halls, and a technology center. In 2011, NCMC opened the Barton Farm Campus just south of Trenton. Shawnee Community College (SCC) is a public community college in Ullin, Illinois. It is part of the Illinois Community College System. History Shawnee Community College was founded in 1967 as Shawnee College to allow students from Community College District No. 531 the opportunity to receive post-secondary education similar to university curriculum. Authorized by the Illinois General Assembly and signed by Illinois Governor Otto Kerner, Jr. in 1961, the legislation enacted created the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).
