Missori is a Milan Metro station on Line 3. The station was opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana. The station is located at Piazza Giuseppe Missori, in the central area near the Velasca Tower, at the end of Via Giuseppe Mazzini, which by the Duomo leads to the south. The Torre Velasca (''Velasca Tower'', in English) is a skyscraper built in the 1950s by the BBPR architectural partnership, in Milan, Italy. The station is located in Largo della Crocetta, in the city centre just outside the core area, near the Teatro Carcano and the Ca' Granda. ''Duomo'' (, ) is an Italian term for a church with the features of, or having been built to serve as, a cathedral, whether or not it currently plays this role. Monza Cathedral, for example, has never been a diocesan seat and is by definition not a cathedral. On the other hand, the city of Trevi no longer has a bishop, although it once did, and the erstwhile cathedral of Emilianus of Trevi is now a mere church. By contradistinction, the Italian word for a cathedral ''sensu stricto'' is ''cattedrale''. Giuseppe Mazzini (, , ; 22 June 1805 – 10 March 1872) was an Italian politician, journalist, and activist for the unification of Italy (Risorgimento) and spearhead of the Italian revolutionary movement. Giuseppe Missori
Giuseppe Missori (11 June 1829 - 25 March 1911) was an Italian patriot, military leader during the Italian unification, and politician. He served under Garibaldi during the Second Italian War of Independence, the Expedition of the Thousand, and the Third Italian War of Independence. After the unification of Italy, he was twice a member of the City Council of Milan. Biography Missori was born in Moscow in 1829, to a family of Bolognese origin, but soon moved to Milan, where he first proved his patriotic enthusiasm in the Five Days of Milan. An admirer of both Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Garibaldi, at the beginning of the Second Italian War of Independence he enrolled in the Hunters of the Alps corps, being assigned to the "Guide a Cavallo" ("mounted scouts") regiment. Porta Romana (Milan Metro)
Porta Romana is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro which opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana. The line terminated here until 12 May 1991, when it was extended south to San Donato. The station is located at the extreme south of Corso di Porta Romana, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. According to the first projects, the station was to be called ''Medaglie d'Oro'' after the homonymous square. The station, like all others on Line 3, is underground, and it is the first one in the southern track to be built in a single tunnel, marking the exit from the city center. Duomo (Milan Metro)
Duomo is an interchange station serving Lines 1 and 3 of the Milan Metro. The station is underground and located at Piazza Duomo, the central area of Milan. The Line 1 station was opened on 1 November 1964 as part of the inaugural section of the Metro, between Sesto Marelli and Lotto. On 1 May 1990, it became an interchange with Line 3. Initially, Duomo was connected with Centrale by shuttle service, and on 16 December 1990, with the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana, full-scale service started. The Line 3 platform serving trains to San Donato has several problems with moisture as it is at a depth of about 25 meters. Line 1, being older, runs above Line 3. The Line 3 section is divided into two orthogonal tubes, the northern one being above the southern one.
