Duomo (Milan Metro)
Duomo is an interchange station serving Lines 1 and 3 of the Milan Metro. The station is underground and located at Piazza Duomo, the central area of Milan. The Line 1 station was opened on 1 November 1964 as part of the inaugural section of the Metro, between Sesto Marelli and Lotto. On 1 May 1990, it became an interchange with Line 3. Initially, Duomo was connected with Centrale by shuttle service, and on 16 December 1990, with the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana, full-scale service started. The Line 3 platform serving trains to San Donato has several problems with moisture as it is at a depth of about 25 meters. Line 1, being older, runs above Line 3. The Line 3 section is divided into two orthogonal tubes, the northern one being above the southern one. Porta Romana (Milan Metro)
Porta Romana is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro which opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana. The line terminated here until 12 May 1991, when it was extended south to San Donato. The station is located at the extreme south of Corso di Porta Romana, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. According to the first projects, the station was to be called ''Medaglie d'Oro'' after the homonymous square. The station, like all others on Line 3, is underground, and it is the first one in the southern track to be built in a single tunnel, marking the exit from the city center. Mezzanine
A mezzanine (; or in Italian language, Italian, a ''mezzanino'') is an intermediate floor in a building which is partly open to the double-height ceilinged floor below, or which does not extend over the whole floorspace of the building, a loft with non-sloped walls. However, the term is often used loosely for the floor above the ground floor, especially where a very high-ceilinged original ground floor has been split horizontally into two floors. Mezzanines may serve a wide variety of functions. Industrial mezzanines, such as those used in warehouses, may be temporary or semi-permanent structures. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II () is Italy's oldest active shopping gallery and a major landmark of Milan in Italy. Housed within a four-story double arcade in the centre of town, the ''Galleria'' is named after Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. Piazza del Duomo ("Cathedral Square") is the main ''piazza'' (city square) of Milan, Italy. It is named after, and dominated by, Milan Cathedral (the ''Duomo'').
