San Donato (Milan Metro)
San Donato is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro in Milan, Italy. The station was opened on 12 May 1991 as part of the extension of the line from Porta Romana. It is the southern terminus of the line. Line 3 (''Linea Tre'' in Italian, also known as M3) is a subway line serving Milan, Italy. The line is part of the Milan Metro and is operated by ATM. Construction began in 1981 in order to be ready for the 1990 Football World Cup. It is also called the Yellow Line ('' Linea Gialla'') as it is identified by yellow signage. The line connects the south-eastern suburb of San Donato Milanese to the north-western area of the city passing through the city centre. It is 17.1 km long with 21 stations. Porta Romana (Milan Metro)
Porta Romana is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro which opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana. The line terminated here until 12 May 1991, when it was extended south to San Donato. The station is located at the extreme south of Corso di Porta Romana, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. According to the first projects, the station was to be called ''Medaglie d'Oro'' after the homonymous square. Marignano
The Battle of Marignano was the last major engagement of the War of the League of Cambrai and took place on 13–14 September 1515, near the town now called Melegnano, 16 km southeast of Milan. It pitted the French army, composed of the best heavy cavalry and artillery in Europe, led by Francis I, newly crowned King of France, against the Old Swiss Confederacy, whose mercenaries until that point were regarded as the best medieval infantry force in Europe. Giuseppe "Peppino" Impastato (; January 5, 1948 – May 9, 1978), was an Italian political activist who opposed the Mafia, which ordered his murder in 1978. 2021 Milan Airplane Crash
On 3 October 2021, a Romanian private plane crashed into a building in San Donato Milanese, Lombardy, Italy. All eight occupants of the aircraft were killed, including the Romanian businessman and billionaire Dan Petrescu, the owner and pilot of the plane.
