Mission Hills Haikou
Mission Hills Haikou is a golf complex in Haikou, Hainan, China. Located around 10 km south of the center of Haikou, it comprises 10 golf courses, and at the north end, hotels including a Ritz Carlton and Renaissance, condominiums, a water park, and a ''Centreville'' (downtown) which includes numerous restaurants and shops. The site is 80 km2 (1.5 times the size of Manhattan) making it the second largest golf complex in the world. The largest is the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen. History Construction started in 2006 but stopped for several months during 2008 because of land disputes. As of 2018, the complex is nearly complete. Events The complex hosted the 2010 Mission Hills Star Trophy and the 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup. The 2012 Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am began was held in October 2012. Haikou
Haikou (; ), also spelled as Hoikow is the capital and most populous city of the Chinese province of Hainan. Haikou city is situated on the northern coast of Hainan, by the mouth of the Nandu River. The northern part of the city is on the Haidian Island, which is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River, a branch of the Nandu. Administratively, Haikou is a prefecture-level city, comprising four districts, and covering . There are 2,046,189 inhabitants in the built-up area, all living within the four urban districts of the city. Haikou was originally a port city, serving as the port for Qiongshan. Mission Hills Shenzhen is a twelve course 18-hole course golf resort, located in the town of Guanlan () in Shenzhen, between the cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan. It is accredited as the world's largest golf facility by the Guinness World Records in 2004, surpassing the Pinehurst Resort in the United States. It currently has 11 championship courses and an 18-hole par three course, each designed by a different golf personality. Ken Chu, also known as “Mr. Golf" in China, is the Chairman and CEO for Mission Hills Group. From 2007 through 2009, Mission Hills hosted the Omega Mission Hills World Cup. 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup
The 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup was a golf tournament that took place 24–27 November on the Blackstone course at Mission Hills Haikou in Hainan, China. It was the 56th World Cup, and the first since 2009, when the tournament switched to being staged biennially. 28 countries competed as two player teams. The purse was increased from $5.5 million in 2009 to $7.5 million in 2011. The event was won by the United States, represented by Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland with a score of 264, 24 under par. Qualification and format The leading 18 available players from different countries in the Official World Golf Ranking qualified automatically on 18 July.
