Miss Universe 1976
Miss Universe 1976, the 25th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 11 July 1976 at the Lee Theatre in Hong Kong. Rina Messinger of Israel was crowned by Anne Marie Pohtamo of Finland. This was the first and only time that an Israeli has won the competition. It was the only time in the pageant's history that the event was held in Hong Kong. Rina Mor-Goder ( he, רינה מור-גודר; née Messinger; February 16, 1956) is an Israeli lawyer, writer and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 1976. Biography Rina Goder (née Messinger) was born in Kiryat Tiv'on, near Haifa. Her father was a mechanic and pilot in the Israeli Air Force and her mother was a kindergarten teacher. Rina Mor-Goder became a lawyer and mother of two daughters. Beauty queen She was the first Miss Israel ever to win the Miss Universe crown. In 1989 and 2004 she was a judge in the Miss Israel competition. In 1981, she wrote a book on her experience as Miss Universe. Anne Marie Pohtamo
Anne Marie Pohtamo (born 15 August 1955) is a Finnish actress, model and beauty queen who was the second woman from Finland to capture the Miss Universe crown. She claimed the Miss Universe crown in 1975 at the pageant held in El Salvador. Pohtamo was crowned by Miss Universe 1972 Kerry Anne Wells, not by her predecessor Amparo Muñoz, as Muñoz resigned after six months reign, when she refused a trip to Japan. From the very beginning, she was a big favorite during the pageant. After the reigning year as Miss Universe, Pohtamo worked as a fashion model at Wilhelmina Model Agency in New York for 5 years.
