Miss Europe 1957, was the 20th edition of the Miss Europe pageant and the ninth under the ''Mondial Events Organization (MEO)''. It was held in Baden-Baden, Germany on 26 June 1957. Corine Rottschäfer of Holland, was crowned Miss Europe 1957 by outgoing titleholder Margit Nünke of Germany. Corine Rottschäfer
Corine Spier-Rottschäfer (8 May 1938 – 24 September 2020) was a Dutch model and beauty queen who won the 1959 Miss World contest, representing the Netherlands.. missworld.com She was the first woman from her country to win the title. The pageant was held in London, United Kingdom. Life Rottschäfer was born on 8 May 1938 in Hoorn. Prior to winning the Miss World title, Rottschäfer also won Miss Europe in the year 1957. She also participated in Miss Universe pageant in the year 1958, where she reached top 15 and won the Miss Photogenic award. At the Miss World 1959 pageant, a few hours before the announcement of the winner, Corine discovered holes in her evening dress. Margit Nünke
Margit Nünke (15 November 1930, in Stettin – 10 January 2015, in Munich) was a German actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder. Life Nünke became Miss Germany on 11 June 1955 after previously being Miss North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1956, she won the election for Miss Europe 1956. When Miss Universe 1955 in Long Beach, California, they reached the final and 4th place. She appeared from 1957 to 1965 in nine feature films and two television movies, and from 1984 to 1985 in the TV series A class apart with. Margit Nünke was the female lead in several films and was a partner of Peter Alexander, Gerhard Riedmann, and Toni Sailer, among others. As a singer, she recorded several singles, including a duet with Peter Garden. Later years Nünke lived in Munich with her husband of more than 40 years, actor Peter Garden. Marita Lindahl
Marita Lindahl (17 October 1938 – 21 March 2017) was a Finnish model and beauty queen who won the 1957 Miss World beauty pageant, after being crowned Miss Finland 1957 by Miss Finland 1956, Sirpa Helena Koivu. She became the first woman from Finland to win the title and the third Nordic woman; after Sweden had won the two first contests. The pageant was held in London, England. Lindahl was described by pageant director Eric Morley as having "the haunting beauty and intrigue of a Greta Garbo". The first runner-up was Lilian Madsen from Denmark, second runner-up Adele Kruger from South Africa and third runner-up Jacqueline Tapia from Tunisia.
