Miss Chinese Taipei
Miss Chinese Taipei (or well-known as Miss Taiwan), formerly known as Miss China is a national Beauty pageant in Taiwan (" Chinese Taipei") since 1960. History 1960–1964 Early in 1960 the Space Mass Communication sponsored the Taipei beauty contest and named as "Miss China". The winners became a talent representative of Chinese culture on world stages such as Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International as "Miss Republic of China". The pageant existed between 1960-1964. The first title holder of 1960 was Janet Lin Chin-Yi who competed at the first annual Miss International 1960 in Long Beach, United States. 1988–2004 After 24 years Miss Republic of China stopped the annual competition in 1988 the pageant was revived with the 37th Miss Universe on May 24, 1988. Miss Universe 1993
Miss Universe 1993, the 42nd Miss Universe pageant, was held on 21 May 1993 at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Mexico. At the event's conclusion, Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss Universe by outgoing titleholder Michelle McLean of Namibia. Seventy-nine contestants competed in the pageant. The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark for the fourth and final time, with colour commentary from former Miss Universe titleholders Cecilia Bolocco (1987) and Angela Visser (1989). This was the third time the pageant was held in Mexico, two years after Lupita Jones won Mexico's first Miss Universe title in 1991. Miss Universe 1994, the 43rd Miss Universe pageant, was held on 21 May 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay, Philippines. 77 contestants competed during this year. Outgoing titleholder Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico crowned Sushmita Sen of India at the end of the event, marking the first time India has won Miss Universe, which they would later win again in 2000 and in 2021.
