The 23rd Miss Chinese International Pageant, Miss Chinese International Pageant 2012 was held on January 15, 2012. Miss Chinese International 2010, Eliza Sam from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada crowned her successor, Kelly Cheung from Chicago, USA at the end of the pageant. Cheung represented Hong Kong, China at Miss World 2012, becoming the first Miss Chinese International titleholder to represent the region in a Miss World Pageant that is not a Miss Hong Kong Pageant titleholder. Kelly Cheung
Kelly Cheung (, born 11 May 1990) is a Hong Kong-born American actress and television host currently contracted to TVB. She is the winner of Miss Chinese International 2012 and represented Hong Kong at Miss World 2012. Early life Cheung was born in Hong Kong and was raised there until she was ten years old before moving to Chicago where she attended St. Therese Chinese Catholic School and later graduated from University of Illinois Chicago with a degree in Business Administration. Career Cheung was 21 when she won the Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant and represented Chicago at Miss Chinese International 2012. She was crowned the winner, becoming the only Chicago representative to have won the beauty pageant title. She was the winner of Friendship Ambassador as well. Miss Chinese International Pageant
Miss Chinese International Pageant (, formerly 國際華裔小姐競選), or MCI () for short, is an annual international beauty pageant, organized and broadcast by TVB, a network television station in Hong Kong. It was established in 1988 and the Chinese name of the pageant was rebranded in 2007. The current Miss Chinese International is Miss Hong Kong 2018 winner Hera Chan, who was crowned at the Miss Chinese International Pageant 2019. The 31st Miss Chinese International Pageant of 2020, originally scheduled to take place February 2020, was postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Rebecca Zhu (; born 2 December 1987) is a Hong Kong actress and a beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Hong Kong 2011. As a result of her pageant win, Zhu was offered a starring role in the 2012 TVB television drama ''Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles'', which was also her acting debut. Early life Zhu was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Following her mother's wishes, Zhu started dancing lessons as early as the age of 3, taking Latin dance and Chinese dance courses. The Miss Hong Kong Pageant (), or Miss HK () for short, is an annual beauty pageant organised by local Hong Kong television station, TVB. Miss World 2012, the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 18 August 2012 at Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. 116 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela crowned her successor Yu Wenxia of China at the end of the event. This is the second time China has won the title of Miss World.
