The Misiones Open, or the Abierto de Misiones, is a golf tournament on the TPG Tour, the official professional golf tour in Argentina. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Fermin (also Firmin, from Latin ''Firminus''; Spanish ''Fermín'') was a legendary holy man and martyr, traditionally venerated as the co-patron saint of Navarre, Spain. Rafael Gómez (golfer)
Rafael Faustino Gómez (born 27 December 1967) is an Argentine professional golfer. Career Gómez was born in Buenos Aires. He turned professional in 1990. He played on the European Challenge Tour in 2003 and from 2005 to 2007 and the European Tour from 2005 to 2007. He played on the U.S.-based Nationwide Tour in 2004 and a few events on the PGA Tour. His best finish on the PGA Tour was 38th place in The International in 2002. His best finish on the European Tour was 22nd place in the KLM Open in 2006. Gómez won the TPG Tour Order of Merit in 2007 and the Tour de las Americas Order of Merit in 2001/02 and 2004. César Omar Monasterio (born 28 November 1963) is an Argentine professional golfer. Monasterio was born in Tucumán. He turned professional in 1990. Since 2003 Monasterio has played extensively in Europe on the European Tour and its development tour, the Challenge Tour. Raúl Fretes (born 13 September 1965) is a Paraguayan professional golfer. Fretes was born in Asunción and turned pro in 1990. He won the South American Tour Order of Merit in 1994 and 1998. Julio Zapata
Julio César Zapata (born 22 July 1976) is an Argentine professional golfer. Early life and career Zapata was born in Rafaela, Santa Fe Province, and turned professional in 1997. In 2005, Zapata was second in the Argentina Tour rankings, winning the Norpatagonico Open and finishing second in five other tournaments, including the Argentine Masters and the Coast Open. Marco Ruiz (born 2 December 1974) is a Paraguayan professional golfer. Early life and career Ruiz was born in Asunción. He is the godson of celebrated Argentine golfer Vicente Fernández. Ruiz turned professional in 1992. Having played regularly on the Challenge Tour in 2005, Ruiz was successful enough to graduate directly to the full European Tour for 2006. However indifferent performances meant that he dropped down the Challenge Tour again in 2007. He started playing the game when he was 12 at the Tacuru Club in Posadas-Misiones-Argentina. Sebastián Fernández (born 8 September 1973) is an Argentine professional golfer. Fernández was born in Buenos Aires. He worked as a caddie in Buenos Aires, before turning professional in 1991. He won the Argentine Tour Order of Merit in 2000. He won three Argentine PGA Championships, in 1991, 2001 and 2005, the first as an 18-year-old, and also came second in 2003. TPG Tour
The TPG Tour (Tour de Profesionales de Golf) is the principal professional golf tour in Argentina. The tour was formed in 2007, following disputes within the PGA of Argentina, who had operated the main professional tour in the country in previous years. The tour operated exclusively in Argentina in its inaugural season, but this changed in 2008 with the inclusion of the Carlos Franco Invitational, held in Paraguay. There were seventeen events in 2007 and sixteen in 2008, including the flagship Argentine Open and Argentine Masters, as well as the major regional opens, the South Open, Center Open, North Open and Coast Open. The TPG Tour developed a close relationship with the higher level Tour de las Américas, with several events being co-sanctioned, which resulted in increased prize funds and stronger fields.
