Marco Ruiz (golfer)
Marco Ruiz (born 2 December 1974) is a Paraguayan professional golfer. Early life and career Ruiz was born in Asunción. He is the godson of celebrated Argentine golfer Vicente Fernández. Ruiz turned professional in 1992. Having played regularly on the Challenge Tour in 2005, Ruiz was successful enough to graduate directly to the full European Tour for 2006. However indifferent performances meant that he dropped down the Challenge Tour again in 2007. After finishing 21st on the money list for the 2008 season, missing out by one place on gaining exemption on the European Tour, Ruiz earned his card for 2009 with a 22nd-place finish at the qualifying school. Ruiz has played in The Open Championship twice, in 2003 and 2006. All his career victories have been in South America, highlighted by the 2007 Argentine Open. Asunción (, , , Guarani: Paraguay) is the capital and the largest city of Paraguay. Daniel Vancsik (born 7 January 1977) is an Argentine professional golfer. Early life Vancsik was born in Posadas, Argentina. He started playing the game when he was 12 at the Tacuru Club in Posadas-Misiones-Argentina. Professional career Vancsik turned professional in 1997 and has played in Europe since 2003, initially on the second tier Challenge Tour, on which he won three tournaments, and later on the main European Tour. His collected his first win on the European Tour at the 2007 Madeira Islands Open BPI. 2005 WGC-World Cup
The 2005 WGC-World Cup took place 17–20 November at the Oceânico Golf on its Victoria Course in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal. It was the 51st World Cup and the sixth as a World Golf Championship event. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2004, the year before it hosted the World Cup. Eleven years after this tournament, in 2016, Dom Pedro Golf acquired the Victoria Course and four other Vilamoura courses from Oceânico Golf. 24 countries competed and each country sent two players. The Brazil Open or Aberto do Brasil is an annual golf tournament held in Brazil. It was founded in 1945 and was an event on the Tour de las Américas on several occasions, most recently in 2005. It is now an event on PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Ángel Franco (born 31 May 1958) is a Paraguayan professional golfer. His brother is golfer Carlos Franco. Franco was born in Asunción and turned pro in 1974. He won the South American Tour Order of Merit in 1991. In 2007, he was second at the Carlos Franco Invitational, and won the same tournament in 2012 in a playoff against younger brother Ramon.
