The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries was a Minister of the Cabinet of South Africa from 2009 to 2019, with political executive responsibility for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and for the Agricultural Research Council, the National Agricultural Marketing Council, Onderstepoort Biological Products, the Perishable Products Export Control Board, and Ncera Farms. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries portfolio was created in the 2009 cabinet reorganization after the election of President Jacob Zuma; the Minister inherited the responsibility for agriculture from the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs, the responsibility for fisheries from the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, and the responsibility for forestry from the Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry. The flag of South Africa was designed in March 1994 and adopted on 27 April 1994, at the beginning of South Africa's South African general election, 1994, 1994 general election, to replace the flag that had been used since 1928. The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (formerly Minister of Environmental Affairs) is the member of the Cabinet of South Africa. The post was created by President Jacob Zuma, in his cabinet announced on 10 May 2009; it partially replaced the posts of Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism and Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry. The first holder of the position was Buyelwa Sonjica; Edna Molewa served in the position from 2010 until her death in 2018. Nomvula Mokonyane succeeded Molewa. It has also been described as one of the most efficient ministries currently in South Africa. In May 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa renamed the post to Minister of Forestry, Environment (DFFE) and appointed Barbara Creecy to the office. Sfiso Norbert Buthelezi (born 1961) is a South African politician and a member of the country's ruling party, the African National Congress. Buthelezi was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Finance after president Jacob Zuma reshuffled his cabinet and removed the Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas in April 2017. He was the first CEO of the National Gambling Board before joining Makana Investment. Pieter Willem Adriaan Mulder (born 26 July 1951) is a South African politician and the former leader of the Freedom Front Plus. He served as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in the Cabinet of President Jacob Zuma from 2009–14. Biography Early life and politics Mulder was born in Randfontein and grew up in Randfontein and Cape Town. He completed his secondary education at Riebeeck High School in Randfontein, where he was head boy and Victor Ludorum in athletics.
