Ming Wong
Ming Wong () is a Singaporean contemporary artist who lives and works in Berlin, known for his re-interpretations of iconic films and performances from world cinema in his video installations, often featuring "miscastings" of himself in roles of varied identities. In 2009, at the Singapore Pavilion of the 53rd Venice Biennale, Wong represented Singapore with the body of work, ''Life of Imitation'', for which he was awarded the Special Mention (Expanding Worlds) during the Biennale's Opening Ceremony, the first time a Singaporean artist would receive an award at the Venice Biennale. Wong is currently a Professor in Performance in the Expanded Field at Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Palazzo Michiel Del Brusà
Palazzo Michiel del Brusà is a palace located in Venice, more precisely in the Cannaregio district, and overlooking the Grand Canal. The building is located between Palazzo Michiel dalle Colonne and Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana. History The palazzo was owned by the ancient and noble Michiel family. The family gave three doges to the republic, two of them, Domenico Michiel (1117–1130) and Vitale II Michiel (1156–1172), were forced to abdicate. The word ''brusà'' means "burned" in Venetian dialect, because in 1774, the palace was completely devastated by a fire due to the neglect of a maid. Only the original facade on the Grand Canal survived. Three years later, in 1777, the palazzo was rebuilt thanks to funding provided by the city. To commemorate the event, there is the Latin inscription on the facade: "Quos ignis consumpsit patria mementa majorum nepotibus patrios lares restituit s.e. vidus ianuarij 1777." The Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei (MoCA Taipei; ) is a museum of contemporary art, located in Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The museum building was built during the Japanese rule in 1921 for what later became Jiànchéng Elementary School, which now occupies a new structure on the back of the historical building. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, it hosted the Taipei City Government and became an important landmark, thanks to its highly recognizable symmetrical building and belltower in historic style. After the city government had moved to the new location in Xinyi district, it was designated as a historical building, and re-opened on 27 May 2001 as Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MOCA Taipei), as the first museum in Taiwan to be dedicated exclusively to contemporary art.
