Milltown GAC
Milltown ( Irish: ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Milltown area in County Galway, Ireland which was established in 1953. The Club is one of the longest established sides in Galway. Milltown are a Gaelic football club. Twice winners of the Galway Senior Football Championship, Milltown made their first appearance in a county final in 20 years when they faced Killererin at Pearse Stadium in 2007, but were defeated by a scoreline of 1-09 to 0-10. Former Texaco Footballer of the Year, Noel Tierney, one of the members of Galway's historic "3 In A Row" team, is one of Milltown's best known players. Two Milltown players were part of the Galway Under 21 All-Ireland winning squad in 2002: Diarmaid Blake and John Devane. Kilconly GAA
Kilconly GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Kilconly, County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA, and is primarily focused on Gaelic football. Underage teams, up to U-18s, play in the Galway league and championships. The club competes at other levels within Galway's football competitions as well. Kilconly gained senior status for the first time in its history by becoming Galway Intermediate champions 2011. Kilconly GAA were chosen to compete in the 2010 season of Celebrity Bainisteoir, managed by Breffny Morgan (who had previously appeared on The Apprentice). In December 2017, Kilconly were forced to wait 5 months to play the Division 6 orthleague final. Pádraig Coyne
Pádraig Coyne (born 9 March 1960) is a retired Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a goalkeeper with the Galway senior team and his local club Milltown. Coyne attended St Colman's College, Claremorris where he helped the school to win their first and only Hogan Cup in 1977, playing as full-back. He won an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship with Galway in 1976 and was an All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship runner-up in 1981 following a defeat to Cork after a replay. Coyne joined the Galway senior team the same year in 1981, winning the National Football League in his first season with the county. He played for Galway in the 1983 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final; however, they were beaten by Dublin. Coyne won an All-Ireland Junior Football Championship with Galway in 1985. Tomás Tierney
Tomás Tierney (born 14 September 1961) is an Irish people, Irish former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Galway county football team, Galway and Mayo county football team, Mayo county teams in the 1980s and 1990s. He played his club football for Milltown GAA (County Galway), Milltown. Tierney helped St Jarlath's College in Tuam win the Hogan Cup in 1978, as well as winning three Sigerson Cups with NUI Galway GAA, University College Galway in 1980/81, 1982/83 and 1983/84, captaining the side in 1984. In 1981 he was a member of the Galway team who were beaten in the All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship final by Cork county football team, Cork after a replay. Gay McManus
Gabriel "Gay" McManus (born 28 March 1958) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career with the Galway senior team spanned thirteen seasons from 1976 until 1989. He played his club football with Milltown. McManus won his first All-Ireland medal as a part of the Galway Minor team that beat Cork in the 1976 final. He followed this with a Sigerson Cup win with UCG in 1979/80. He won the university title again the following year in 1980/81 as Captain, as well as finishing as Top Scorer and winning the Player of The Tournament Award. McManus joined the Galway senior team during the 1976/77 National League campaign, making his Championship debut in 1977, aged 19. He won a National Football League with Galway in 1981, scoring a goal in the final. Joe Waldron
Joe Waldron (born 1951 in Milltown, County Galway) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Milltown and was a member of the Galway senior inter-county team in the 1970s. In 1972, Waldron captained Galway to win their first All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship when they defeated Kerry in the final. He lost two consecutive All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Finals with Galway after being beaten by Cork in 1973 and Dublin the following year in 1974. He was a member of both of Milltown's Galway Senior Football Championship winning teams in 1971 and 1981, playing alongside his brother John in both finals. Waldron was also a part of the successful UCD team of the early 1970s, winning a Sigerson Cup in 1972/73. Claremorris GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association Club based in the town of Claremorris in County Mayo, Ireland. The club was founded in 1884 and is a member of the South division of Mayo GAA. The Connacht Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between senior clubs in Connacht, with one qualifying from each of the five individual county championships. Tuam Stadium
St Jarlath's Park (''Páirc Naomh Iarflaith'', commonly known as Tuam Stadium) is a GAA stadium in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. It is one of the principal stadiums of Galway GAA's football teams. The ground once had a capacity of around 26,000. This has progressively been reduced for safety reasons and has most recently been reduced to 6,700. The official opening of the stadium took place on 21 May 1950. It was blessed and officially opened by the Archbishop of Tuam, Rev. Dr Walsh. St Grellan's Gaelic Football Club ( ga, Cumann Peile Ghrealláin Naofa) was a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland. The team was named in honour of Saint Grellan, patron saint of Ballinasloe. St Grellan's GFC were the first club to win a record seven Galway county football titles in a row from 1913 to 1919 and were undefeated in the county championship from 1913 to 1930.
