Milko was a cooperative based in Östersund, Sweden and was Sweden's largest native producer of dairy products. Milko offered a wide range of products, from milk to cheesecake. One of its most well-known products is Milko Messmör ("Milko Soft Whey Butter"), a kind of butter made out of whey, a by-product produced when making cheese. Messmör is known not only for its unusual taste but also for its high content of minerals such as iron. Östersund (; sma, Staare) is an urban area (city) in Jämtland in the middle of Sweden. It is the seat of Östersund Municipality and the capital of Jämtland County. Östersund is located at the shores of Sweden's fifth-largest lake, Storsjön, opposite the island Frösön. It is the only city in Jämtland.
