Mike Svoboda
Michael Svoboda (born 1960) is an American composer and trombonist who lives and works in Switzerland. Life Born in Guam, Svoboda grew up in Chicago and studied composition and conducting at the University of Illinois. In 1981, he came to Germany on the basis of a composition prize. There, he studied trombone at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. From 1984 to 1995, he worked as a performer with Karlheinz Stockhausen. Svoboda lives in Switzerland were he has been teaching as Professor for contemporary chamber music and trombone at the Hochschule für Musik (Basel), Musikhochschule Basel since 2007. Work In guest appearances at the Royal Opera House, La Scala and other opera houses, he impersonated Lucifer in Stockhausen's opera cycle ''Licht''. The Mannheim National Theatre (german: Nationaltheater Mannheim) is a theatre and opera company in Mannheim, Germany, with a variety of performance spaces. It was founded in 1779 and is one of the oldest theatres in Germany. Ensemble Modern
Ensemble Modern is an international ensemble dedicated to performing and promoting the music of modern composers. Formed in 1980, the group is based in Frankfurt, Germany, and made up variously of about twenty members from numerous countries. History Ensemble Modern was founded in 1980 by members of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. From the beginning, the ensemble chose to organize itself democratically. There is no artistic director or chief conductor; instead, all projects, productions and financial matters are decided and supported by the musicians directly. Bamberg Symphony
The Bamberg Symphony (German: Bamberger Symphoniker – Bayerische Staatsphilharmonie) is a German orchestra based in Bamberg. It is one of the most prestigious orchestras in Germany. The orchestra was formed in 1946 mainly from German musicians expelled from Czechoslovakia after WWII, who had previously been members of the German Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague. Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR; "Bavarian Broadcasting") is a public-service radio and television broadcaster, based in Munich, capital city of the Free State of Bavaria in Germany. The Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO) is a German broadcast orchestra based in Berlin. The orchestra performs its concerts principally in the Philharmonie Berlin. Manfred Kniel
Manfred Kniel (born 1951) is a German drummer, percussionist and composer of jazz and free improvisation. Life and career Kniel studied percussion at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart until 1976 and has been a professional musician since 1976. From 1973 to 1984, he was a drummer in the " Crew" and in the "Jazz Inspiration Orchestra". In addition, he belonged to the quartet of Lauren Newton, whose album ''Timbre'' (re-released as ''Filigree'') was awarded the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Theater Chemnitz is the municipal theatre organization in Chemnitz, Germany. Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker ("summerly music days Hitzacker") is the name of a traditional international festival of classical chamber music in Hitzacker, Lower Saxony, Germany.
