Mika Ronkainen
Mika Ronkainen (born 6 August 1970) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter from Oulu, Northern Finland. Ronkainen is the co-creator and director of successful crime drama '' All the Sins'' and he has also worked with documentary films and theatre. In June 2013 American magazine ''Variety'' selected Ronkainen as one of ten up-and-coming European directors to watch. Career Documentaries Ronkainen's international breakthrough film was '' Screaming Men (2003)'', a documentary film about a Finnish screaming male choir called Mieskuoro Huutajat, followed by '' Freetime Machos (2009)'', a documentary film about a rugby team which is allegedly the most northern and the third lousiest in the world. Screaming Men had its US premiere at Sundance Film Festival in 2004, and Freetime Machos at Tribeca Film Festival in 2010. Kuusamo ( sme, Guossán; smn, Kuáccám) is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located in the Northern Ostrobothnia region. Sentenced was a Finnish gothic metal band that played melodic death metal in their early years. The band formed in 1989 in the town of Muhos and broke up in 2005. History Early years (1988–1991) Sentenced started in 1988 as Deformity and changed their name to Sentenced in 1989, after a few line-up changes. The original line-up consisted of Miika Tenkula (lead guitar and vocals), Sami Lopakka (guitar), Vesa Ranta (drums), and Lari Kylmänen (bass). Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC) is an annual event taking place in Oulu, Finland. AGWC was arranged for the first time in 1996. Today, national championships are held all around the world. Playing air guitar is based on mimicking guitar playing. Music genres may vary, but the most common ones are heavy metal and rock. Jussi Award
The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry.
