Mihkel Mattisen
Mihkel Mattisen (born 13 August 1976, in Tallinn) is an Estonian pianist, pop singer, songwriter, music producer and teacher. He studied piano at Tallinn Music High School. From 1994 to 2000 he continued to study piano at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He is the author of the song "So There Can be a New Beginning" which was sung by Birgit Õigemeel during Eurovision Song Contest 2013. He was a member for the band Jam (1994–2005), and for the pop-ensemble Swingers. He was a pianist in television series "Tähed muusikas" ('Stars in Music'). He started teaching at Kadrina Kadrina is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Lääne-Viru County, northern Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Kadrina Parish. Tallinn Music High School
Tallinn Music High School ( et, Tallinna Muusikakeskkool) is a special music high school in Tallinn, Estonia. History TMHS was founded in 1961 to ensure a sufficient number of quality applicants to the Tallinn State Conservatory (now Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). It has successfully fulfilled its goal, as 80-100% of graduates continue their studies at EAMT or at other music academies abroad. TMHS is the only school in Estonia that provides a professional music education alongside the general primary and secondary curriculum. This system prepares students for a career in music or in any other field. There are 38 senior teachers and 23 teachers on staff with qualifications to teach at the university level. Estonian Academy Of Music And Theatre
The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Birgit Õigemeel
Birgit Sarrap (née Õigemeel, born 24 September 1988), also known as simply Birgit, is an Estonian singer. Õigemeel rose to prominence in 2007 after winning the first season of ''Eesti otsib superstaari'', the Estonian version of ''Idol''. Her debut self-titled studio album was later released in 2008. Õigemeel has gone on to release four other studio albums in her career. Õigemeel represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Et uus saaks alguse" after winning ''Eesti Laul 2013''. She qualified for the grand final, where she placed 20th. The Eurovision Song Contest 2013 was the 58th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "Euphoria" by Loreen. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), the contest was held at Malmö Arena and consisted of two semi-finals on 14 and 16 May, and a final on 18 May 2013. Kadrina
Kadrina is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Lääne-Viru County, northern Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Kadrina Parish. Kadrina is located in the crossing point of Tallinn–Saint Petersburg (Tallinn–Narva) railway, Pärnu– Rakvere road (nr. 5) and the Loobu River. The nearest towns are Rakvere (12 km east) and Tapa (12 km southwest). As of 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 2,269. The name of Kadrina is derived from the St. Catherine's church and parish which establishment dates back to 1231. Earlier name of the settlement was Tõrvestevere (german: Tristfer).
