Mifflin is an unincorporated community in Chester County, Tennessee, United States. Geography The community is situated on Tennessee State Route 200 and the eastern end of Tennessee State Route 197. History Mifflin takes its name from Mifflin, Pennsylvania Mifflin is a borough in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 534 at the 2020 census. Chester County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,341. Its county seat is Henderson. The county was created in 1879 and organized in 1882. Chester County is included in the Jackson, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Chester County was the last county formed in Tennessee, created by the General Assembly in 1875 from adjacent parts of neighboring Hardeman, Henderson, McNairy, and Madison counties. This land was used to create a county named Wisdom County, but "Wisdom County" was never organized, and in March 1879 the Assembly repealed this and created Chester County out of the same land. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Tennessee State Route 200
State Route 200 (SR 200) is a secondary south–north state road located in West Tennessee. Route description SR 200 starts at SR 365 in Henderson in Chester County as Steed Street. It continues into rural Chester County as Mifflin Road where it crosses the South Fork of the Forked Deer River and then passes through unincorporated Mifflin, where it intersects SR 197. After passing through Mifflin it becomes known Garner Town Road and passes into Henderson County. It then passes through unincorporated Garner Town and then becomes known as Life Road before terminating in Lexington at SR 22A. SR 200 is, for the most part, a narrow winding road that runs mainly through farm land and rural residential areas. Tennessee State Route 197
State Route 197 (SR 197) is a secondary west–east state road located in West Tennessee. Route description SR 197 starts at US 45 ( SR 5) in Pinson in Madison County. It crosses the South Fork of the Forked Deer River and is called locally Ozier Road and after approximately 2.5 miles passes Pinson Mounds. At 4.0 miles along its length it passes through Five Points and becomes Diamond Grove Road. Diamond Grove Road continues for 3.9 miles and then makes a right turn onto Mifflin Road and in 0.4 of a mile passes the southern terminus of SR 198 before passing into Chester County at the 10.3 mile mark or 2 miles from SR 198. It then terminates in Mifflin at SR 200.
