The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), founded in 1938, is the governing association of community college, state college and junior college athletics throughout the United States. Currently the NJCAA holds 24 separate regions across 24 states and is divided into 3 divisions. History The idea for the NJCAA was conceived in 1937 at Fresno, California. A handful of junior college representatives met to organize an association that would promote and supervise a national program of junior college sports and activities consistent with the educational objectives of junior colleges. A constitution was presented and adopted at the charter meeting in Fresno on May 14, 1938. In 1949, the NJCAA was reorganized by dividing the nation into sixteen regions. The officers of the association were the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, public relations director, and the sixteen regional vice presidents. East Central College
East Central College (ECC) is a Public college, public community college with its main campus in Union, Missouri. It also offers classes in Rolla, Missouri, Rolla and Washington, Missouri, Washington. Approximately 2,100 students are enrolled in classes each semester. ECC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. History East Central College was founded in 1968 to serve the educational needs of the people in east central Missouri. In that same year were purchased for what is now the main campus. Jefferson College is a community college in Jefferson County, Missouri, in the city of Hillsboro. As of Fall 2019, Jefferson College enrollment includes 4,179 full and part-time college credit students. History The history of Jefferson College began in the spring of 1961 with the passage of Senate Bill Number Seven, presented by Senator Earl Blackwell of Hillsboro, made possible the formation and financing of public junior colleges in Missouri. Mineral Area College
Mineral Area College is a public community college in Park Hills, Missouri. Students can complete a wide variety of certificate and 2-year degree programs. Students may transfer to four-year institutions to complete bachelor's degree programs or they may participate in the 2+2 programs offered on campus by Central Methodist University or University of Missouri-St. Louis. The school enrolled 2,640 students in 2019. Moberly Area Community College
Moberly Area Community College (MACC) is a public community college based in Moberly, Missouri. In addition to the Moberly campus, MACC has four campuses across a large portion of Northeastern and central Missouri: Columbia, Hannibal, Kirksville, and Mexico. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. In 2010 MACC enrollment was approximately 5,600 students. History MACC was founded in 1927 as Moberly Junior College as a part of the Moberly Public School system. State Fair Community College is a public community college in Sedalia, Missouri, adjacent to the Missouri State Fairgrounds. North Central Missouri College
North Central Missouri College (formerly Trenton Junior College) is a public community college in Trenton, Missouri. Founded in 1925, the campus has grown to include nine buildings used as instruction facilities, library and testing center, a tutoring center, a community center, a student center, a career center, an art gallery, two residence halls, and a technology center. In 2011, NCMC opened the Barton Farm Campus just south of Trenton. Shawnee Community College (SCC) is a public community college in Ullin, Illinois. It is part of the Illinois Community College System. History Shawnee Community College was founded in 1967 as Shawnee College to allow students from Community College District No. 531 the opportunity to receive post-secondary education similar to university curriculum. Authorized by the Illinois General Assembly and signed by Illinois Governor Otto Kerner, Jr. in 1961, the legislation enacted created the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). The IBHE was tasked by statute with formulating a Master Plan for Higher Education in the state of Illinois.
