Midori Kinouchi
Midori Kinouchi (木之内 みどり, ''Kinouchi Midori'', b. ''Midori Kiuchi'' on June 10, 1957) is a former Japanese idol and actress. Biography In 1972 Midori Kinouchi was the runner up in the NTV program ''"Miss Teen Contest"''. She debuted as a singer in May, 1974 with the song ''"Mezame"'' (Wake Up), which was written by famous Japanese lyricist Yū Aku. She debuted as an actress in 1976 in the drama ''"Watashi Mo Moeiteru"'' and starred in the 1977 TV series ''"Keiji Inu Curl"''. In early 1978 she scored her biggest hit with ''"Yokohama Eleven"'', which reached the Oricon top 30. That same year she announced her retirement because of her marriage to composer and arranger Tsugutoshi Gotō. They divorced 4 years later, and she subsequently married Naoto Takenaka in 1990. Yū Aku
(occasionally credited as You Aku) (February 7, 1937 – August 1, 2007), was a Japanese lyricist, poet, and novelist. Early life Yū Aku was born as Hiroyuki Fukada (深田公之, Fukada Hiroyuki) in Awaji Island, Hyogo, Japan. His parents both originated from the town of Kawaminami in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyūshū, Japan. His father worked as a police constable in Hyogo prefecture. His father's career necessitated moving every few years, resulting in Aku attending three separate junior high schools. Yū Aku graduated from Meiji University. Career Originally, Yū Aku desired to screenwrite for movies, specifically the up-and-coming Moonlight Mask series. Tsugutoshi Gotō
is a Japanese songwriter, bassist and music producer. Gotō broke into the Japanese music industry playing bass on tour for artists like Sadistic Mika Band, Bread & Butter and Shiro Kishibe. He went on to write and produce songs for other artists including Kenji Sawada, Miyuki Nakajima, Shizuka Kudō, and various idol singers. In 1980, Gotō won Song of the Year at the Japan Record Award for his work on Kenji Sawada's song "Tokio". In 1983, Gotō married former idol singer and actress Midori Kinouchi. Kayōkyoku
is a Japanese pop music genre, which became a base of modern J-pop. ''The Japan Times'' described ''kayōkyoku'' as "standard Japanese pop" or " Shōwa-era pop". ''Kayōkyoku'' represents a blend of Western and Japanese musical scales. Music in this genre is extremely varied as a result. ''Kayōkyoku'' in the narrower and more practical sense, however, excludes J-pop and ''enka''. Unlike "J-pop" singers such as Southern All Stars' Keisuke Kuwata, the singers of the ''kayōkyoku'' genre do not use stylized pronunciations based on the English language, but prefer traditional Japanese. There are exceptions, such as in singer Momoe Yamaguchi's song "Rock 'n' Roll Widow". Unlike ''enka'', ''kayōkyoku'' is also not based on emotional displays of effort while singing.
