Midian (album)
''Midian'' is the fourth studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It was released on 30 October 2000, through Music for Nations. The album marks the return of guitarist Paul Allender to the band, as well as the introduction of drummer Adrian Erlandsson (At the Gates, The Haunted (Swedish band), The Haunted) and keyboard player Martin Powell (My Dying Bride, Anathema (band), Anathema). It also features Doug Bradley (''Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Hellbound'') as the narrator for various songs. Thematic inspiration ''Midian'' is inspired by English author Clive Barker's novel ''Cabal (novella), Cabal'' and his subsequent film version ''Nightbreed''. Cradle Of Filth
Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band consists of its founding member, vocalist Dani Filth, drummer Martin Marthus Škaroupka, Martin 'Marthus' Škaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth, guitarists Marek 'Ashok' Šmerda and Donny Burbage, and keyboardist Zoe Marie Federoff. The band has broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity. Doug Bradley
Douglas William Bradley (born 7 September 1954) is an English actor and author, best known for his role as the lead Cenobite "Pinhead" in the ''Hellraiser'' film series and for narration on various Cradle of Filth albums. He is also starring in the upcoming animated film ''Dagon: Troll World Chronicles'' as the forest monster Goeyre Heddagh. Early life Bradley was born in Liverpool and attended Quarry Bank High School. Midian
Midian (; he, מִדְיָן ''Mīḏyān'' ; ar, مَدْيَن, Madyan; grc-gre, Μαδιάμ, ''Madiam'') is a geographical place mentioned in the Hebrew Bible and Quran. William G. Dever states that biblical Midian was in the "northwest Arabian Peninsula, on the east shore of the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea", an area which he notes was "never extensively settled until the 8th–7th century B.C." According to the Book of Genesis, the Midianites were the descendants of Midian, who was a son of Abraham and his wife Keturah: "Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. Pinhead (Hellraiser)
Pinhead (also known as Lead Cenobite or the Hell Priest, among other names and titles) is the main antagonist of the ''Hellraiser'' franchise. The character first appeared as an unnamed figure in the 1986 Clive Barker novella ''The Hellbound Heart''. When Clive Barker adapted the novella into the 1987 film ''Hellraiser'', he referred to the character in early drafts as "the Priest" but the final film gave no name. The production and make-up crew nicknamed the character "Pinhead"—derived from his bald head studded with nails—and fans accepted the sobriquet. The name was then used in press materials, tie-in media, and on-screen in some of the film's sequels, although Barker himself despises the moniker. A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. ''Books of Blood'' is a series of six horror fiction anthologies collecting original stories written by British author, playwright, and filmmaker Clive Barker in 1984 and 1985. Known primarily for writing stage plays beforehand, Barker gained a wider audience and fanbase through this anthology series, leading to a successful career as a novelist. Originally presented as six volumes, the anthologies were subsequently re-published in two omnibus editions containing three volumes each. Each volume contains four, five or six stories. The Damnation Game (novel)
''The Damnation Game'' is a horror novel by English writer Clive Barker, published in 1985. It was written just after finishing the first trilogy of ''Books of Blood'', and tells a Faustian story that touches on topics such as incest, cannibalism, and self-mutilation in a frank and detailed manner. It was his first novel. Synopsis Marty Strauss is a gambling addict recently released from prison. He is hired as the personal bodyguard of Joseph Whitehead, one of the wealthiest men in the world.
