Mick Snel
Mick Snel (born 13 April 1993) is a Dutch korfball player. He currently plays for TOP and made his entry at the Dutch national team at the 2011 Korfball World Championship where he played 5 matches. In his inaugural 2010–11 season of the Dutch Korfballeague his team TOP became champions and he scored 137 goals making him number 2 on the topscorer list. The Netherlands national korfball team ( nl, Nederlands korfbalteam) represents the Netherlands in international korfball. It is controlled by the Royal Dutch Korfball Association (KNKV), the governing body of korfball in the Netherlands. Korfbal League
The Korfbal League is the highest echelon of korfball in the Netherlands. The league was founded in 2005 as the new highest level in Dutch korfball. Before that the top level was split in two divisions. Since the start of the competition the format has been the same. The winner of the Korfbal League qualifies for the IKF Europa Korfball Cup while the number 10 relegated to the Hoofdklasse (korfball). The number 9 will compete with the loser of the Hoofdklasse final in a play-off for a position in the Korfbal League. Fortuna (Korfbalvereniging Fortuna) is a Dutch people, Dutch korfball, korfball club located in Delft, Netherlands. The club was founded on 3 February 1957 and they play their home games in the Fortuna-Hal. The team plays in white/red vertically striped shirts and black shorts / skirts. History General history Fortuna was founded on 3 February 1957 by Chris Bezuyen, Ria Boer, Jan Bonthuis, Ria Rongen, Arie Rongen en Ineke Rosier. The club expanded rapidly, mainly by korfbal played at elementary schools. By that time, Fortuna was already the fourth korfball club in Delft. However Fortuna is the youngest club of the city, it always had the highest ambitions. Korfball
Korfball ( nl, korfbal) is a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. It is played by two teams of eight players with four female players and four male players in each team. The objective is to throw a ball into a netless basket that is mounted on a high pole. The sport was invented by Dutch school teacher Nico Broekhuysen in 1902. In the Netherlands there are approximately 500 clubs and more than 90,000 people playing korfball. The sport is also played in Belgium and Taiwan, and in nearly 70 other countries. World Games
The World Games are an international multi-sport event comprising sports and sporting disciplines that are not contested in the Olympic Games. They are usually held every four years, one year after a Summer Olympic Games, over the course of 11 days. The 2013 World Games ( es, Juegos Mundiales 2013), the ninth World Games, were an international multi-sport event held in the city of Cali, Colombia, from July 25 to August 4. Host city allocation history The 2013 World Games were initially allocated to the German cities of Duisburg and Düsseldorf. However, at the end of 2008, Duisburg withdrew and Düsseldorf dropped out because both cities could not secure enough funding, partly as a result of the financial crisis of 2007–08 and the subsequent Great Recession. Two alternate cities came forward to the IWGA to bid for these Games: Pretoria, South Africa and Cali, Colombia. Korfball World Championship
The IKF World Korfball Championship is an international korfball competition contested by the national teams of the members of International Korfball Federation (IKF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded roughly every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1978. The current champions are the Netherlands, who won the 2019 IKF World Korfball Championship. The current format of the tournament involves 20 teams competing for the title at venues within the host nation over a period of about a week.
