Michigan's 9th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Paul Wojno since 2019, succeeding fellow Democrat Steve Bieda. Paul Wojno
Paul J. Wojno (born March 30, 1956) is a Democratic member of the Michigan Senate, representing the 9th district since 2019. Early life Wojno was born to parents Florence and Henry Wojno on March 30, 1956 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Later, Wojno moved to Center Line, Macomb County, Michigan. Personal life Wojno's wife is Lisa Wojno, who is a former state representative. They have three children, Kennedy, Bradley, and Audrey. Wojno is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Cancer Society. Wojno is Roman Catholic. The 2016 United States presidential election in Michigan was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, as part of the 2016 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. Gretchen Whitmer
Gretchen Esther Whitmer (born August 23, 1971) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 49th governor of Michigan since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2001 to 2006 and in the Michigan Senate from 2006 to 2015. Whitmer was born and raised in Michigan. She is a graduate of Forest Hills Central High School near Grand Rapids, Michigan State University, and the Michigan State University College of Law, which at the time was the Detroit College of Law. Deborah Ann Stabenow ( ; née Greer, born April 29, 1950) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Michigan, a seat she has held since 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, she became the state's first female U.S. senator after defeating Republican incumbent Spencer Abraham in the 2000 election. Before her election to the Senate, she was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Michigan's 8th congressional district from 1997 to 2001. 2014 Michigan Senate Election
Elections for the Michigan Senate was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, with partisan primary elections to select the party's nominees held on August 5. All 38 seats in the Michigan Senate were contested, and those elected will serve in the 98th and 99th Michigan Legislatures. This was the first election for the Michigan Senate contested under the constituency boundaries drawn in consequence of the 2010 U.S. Census.
