Michigan's 16th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. It has been represented by Republican Joe Bellino since 2023, succeeding fellow Republican Mike Shirkey. Geography District 16 encompasses parts of Hillsdale, Lenawee, and Monroe counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 16, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, covered Branch, Hillsdale, and Jackson Counties, including the communities of Jackson, Michigan Center, Vandercook Lake, Hillsdale, Jonesville, Coldwater, Bronson, Summit Township, Blackman Township, and Leoni Township. Joseph N. Bellino Jr. is an American politician from Michigan. Bellino is a Republican member of the Michigan Senate. Early life On June 10, 1958, Bellino was born in Monroe, Michigan. Education Bellino earned a degree from Monroe County Community College. Career Bellino was a businessman as an owner of Broadway Market. On November 8, 2016, Bellino won the election and became a Republican member of Michigan House of Representatives for District 17. Bellino defeated Bill LaVoy and Jeff Andring with 52.23% of the votes. On November 6, 2018, as an incumbent, Bellino won the election and continued serving District 17. Bronson is a city located in west central Branch County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,349 at the 2010 census. Bronson is situated on U.S. Highway 12 about southwest of Coldwater. The ZIP code is 49028 and the FIPS place code is 10860. The city is located within Bronson Township, though it is administratively autonomous. History A post office was established here under the name of Bronson's Prairie in 1830, with Jabez B. Bronson as post master. When the village was started it was first named York, but was renamed to Bronson by the Michigan legislature in 1837. The village was incorporated in 1866 and made a city in 1934. Bronson established a new City Charter in 1985. 2014 Michigan Senate Election
Elections for the Michigan Senate was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, with partisan primary elections to select the party's nominees held on August 5. All 38 seats in the Michigan Senate were contested, and those elected will serve in the 98th and 99th Michigan Legislatures. This was the first election for the Michigan Senate contested under the constituency boundaries drawn in consequence of the 2010 U.S. Census. The election resulted in the Republicans expanding their majority to 27 seats over the Democrats 11 seats. Michigan's 7th Congressional District
Michigan's 7th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Southern Michigan and portions of Central Michigan. From 2004 to 2013 it consisted of all of Branch, Eaton, Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee counties, and included most of Calhoun and a large portion of western and northern Washtenaw counties. The current district, which was created in 2022, is centered around Lansing, Michigan's state capital, and includes all of Clinton, Shiawassee, Ingham, and Livingston counties, as well as portions of Eaton and Oakland counties.
