Michelle Udall
Michelle Udall ( Miles; born March 23, 1976) is an American politician and a former Republican member of the Arizona House of Representatives elected to represent District 25 in 2016 until 2023. She is also a former member of the Mesa school board. Biography Michelle Miles married Jesse Udall, the namesake grandson of Jesse Addison Udall and a member of the prominent Udall family. She has been described by ''The Arizona Republic'' as a moderate Republican. In February 2022, Udall alongside fellow Republican Arizona House members Regina Cobb and Joanne Osborne crossed party lines to vote against HB 2811, a bill that would have banned manufacturing or prescribing medication that would cause an abortion, citing the multiple uses of those medications. Arizona's 25th Legislative District
Arizona's 25th Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of sections of Maricopa County and Yuma County. As of 2023, there are 64 precincts in the district, 44 in Maricopa and 20 in Yuma, with a total registered voter population of 143,080. The district has an overall population of 243,005. Following the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) redrew legislative district boundaries in Arizona. According to the AIRC, the district is "Outside of Competitive Range" and considered leaning . Jesse Addison Udall
Jesse Addison Udall (June 24, 1893 – April 18, 1980) was an American jurist and member of the Udall political family who served as chief justice of the Arizona Supreme Court. Udall was born and raised in Arizona, he was the son of David King Udall and Ida Frances (Hunt) Udall and was named after Jesse Nathaniel Smith and Addison Pratt, his great-grandfather. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Arizona National Guard and was a veteran of both World War I and World War II and graduated from the University of Arizona Law School in 1924. From 1931 to 1938, he was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives. He later served as a judge of the Arizona Superior Court from Graham County. From 1960 to 1972 he served as a justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, succeeding his brother Levi Stewart Udall in that position. In 1964 and 1969, he was chief justice. He died in Phoenix in 1980. ''The Arizona Republic'' is an American daily newspaper published in Phoenix. Circulated throughout Arizona, it is the state's largest newspaper. Since 2000, it has been owned by the Gannett newspaper chain. Copies are sold at $2 daily or at $3 on Sundays and $5 on Thanksgiving Day; prices are higher outside Arizona. History Early years The newspaper was founded May 19, 1890, under the name ''The Arizona Republican''. Dwight B. Heard, a Phoenix land and cattle baron, ran the newspaper from 1912 until his death in 1929. The paper was then run by two of its top executives, Charles Stauffer and W. Wesley Knorpp, until it was bought by Midwestern newspaper magnate Eugene C. Pulliam in 1946.
