Michel El-Khoury
Michel El Khoury (born 24 November 1926) is a Lebanese politician who served as governor of Banque du Liban from 1978 to 1985 and from 1991 to 1993. The son of President Bechara El Khoury, he succeeded him in leading the Constitutional Bloc. Banque Du Liban
Banque du Liban (BdL, ar, مصرف لبنان, English: Bank of Lebanon) is the central bank of Lebanon. It was established on August 1, 1963, and became fully operational on April 1, 1964. It is currently headed by Riad Salameh. One of the main responsibilities of the bank is issuing Lebanon's currency, the Lebanese Pound. Other responsibilities include maintaining monetary stability, regulation of money transfers, and maintaining the soundness of the banking sector. Banking is a very important part of Lebanon's economy with over 100 different banks, which makes the role of BdL particularly important. It currently owns 99.37% of the shares of Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines. Joseph Oughourlian (born 1972 in Paris), is a French financial entrepreneur and businessman of Lebanese – Armenian origin. Founder of the activist fund Amber Capital, he invests in companies whose management he then seeks to influence. Edmond Naïm
Edmond Wadih Naim (; 1918 - January 23, 2006) was a Lebanese politician, jurist and governor of the Banque du Liban. Biography Early life and education Edmond Naïm was born to a Maronite Catholic family in the town of Chiyah in the Greater Beirut region in the year 1918. He studied at the Jesuit Fathers' School and had a bachelor's degree in Law from the French Law School in Beirut. In 1941 and received a PhD in law from Saint Joseph University in Beirut. Career Naim was a member of the Progressive Socialist Party between 1951 and 1963. He participated in the parliamentary elections in 1957 and 1960 but without success. Riad Toufic Salameh (Arabic: رياض توفيق سلامة, born July 17, 1950) is the current Governor of Lebanon's central bank, Banque du Liban since April 1993. He was appointed Governor by decree, approved by the Council of Ministers for a renewable term of six years. He was reappointed for four consecutive terms; in 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2017. He is the longest-serving central bank governor in the world. Bechara El Khoury ( ar, بشارة خليل الخوري; 10 August 1890 – 11 January 1964) was a Lebanese politician who served as the 1st president of Lebanon, holding office from 21 September 1943 to 18 September 1952, apart from an 11-day interruption (11–22 November) in 1943. He had previously served two short terms as Prime Minister, from 5 May 1927 to 10 August 1928, and 9 May to 11 October 1929. Constitutional Bloc (Lebanon)
Constitutional Bloc ( ar, الكتلة الدستورية; transliterated as ''Al Kutla ad Dustuuriyya'') was a Lebanese political party established in 1934 by Bechara El Khoury and advocating the full independence of Lebanon ruled at the time by the French Mandate and fought for its achievement in 1943. The Bloc also advocated an active role in establishing the Arab League with Lebanon as an integral part of the Arab World.
