Michael Green (Australian Rules Footballer)
Michael Green (born 14 May 1948) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1966 and 1971 and then again between 1973 and 1975 for the Richmond Football Club. The demands of a law career, which caused him to retire temporarily in 1972, before returning and playing in back to back flags in 1973 and 1974. Green is now well known in the Melbourne legal community. He runs Greens List, one of the Victoria's largest barristers' clerk services. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. Richmond traditionally wears a black guernsey with a yellow sash. The club song, " We're From Tigerland", is well known for its "yellow and black" refrain. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. For historical purposes, the present-day VFL is referred to as the VFA/VFL, to distinguish it from the present-day Australian Football League, which in turn was known until 1990 as the Victorian Football League and is thus referred to as the VFL/AFL. Tom Green (footballer, Born 2001)
Tom Green (born 23 January 2001) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Green was born in Townsville, Queensland and spent the first decade of his life regularly relocating between Townsville, Toowoomba, Darwin, Melbourne and Tamworth due to his father's Army commitments. In year 6, he settled in Canberra where he tried an array of sports which included Australian rules football, basketball, cricket and rugby union. Green became a member of the GIANTS Academy at the age of 12 and worked his way through the local junior ranks to become an outstanding prospect in his age group. Xavier Duursma (born 7 July 2000) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by with the 18th draft pick in the 2018 AFL Draft. AFL career Duursma made his AFL debut in Port Adelaide's win over Melbourne in the opening round of the 2019 AFL season.
