Metamorfosi Railway Station
Metamorfosi railway station ( el, Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Μεταμόρφωσης, Sidirodromikós Stathmós Metamórfosis) is a station on the Piraeus–Platy railway line, located on Kifisias Avenue in Marousi, a municipality in the regional unit of North Athens, Attica, Greece, located in the median strip of the Attiki Odos motorway. The station opened on 8 August 2010. The station consists of an island platform and a train storage line. History The station opened on 8 August 2010, during the Greek debt crisis. With the crisis unfolding OSE's Management was forced to reduce services across the network. Timetables were cutback, and routes closed as the government-run entity attempted to reduce overheads. Services from Athens Airport & Athens were cut back, with some ticket offices closing, reducing the reliability of services and passenger numbers. Metamorfosi
Metamorfosi ( el, Μεταμόρφωση, Metamórfosi, transfiguration; before 1957: Koukouvaounes ( el, link=no, Κουκουβάουνες, Koukouváounes) is a suburb in the northern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece, and a municipality of the Attica region. Geography Metamorfosi is situated east of the small river Kifisos, 9 km north of Athens city centre. The municipality has an area of 5.502 km2. The built-up area of Metamorfosi is continuous with those of the neighbouring suburbs Lykovrysi, Irakleio and Nea Filadelfeia. Motorway 1 and Motorway 6 intersect in Metamorfosi. North Athens ( el, Βόρειος Τομέας Αθηνών) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Attica. Line A1 is a Athens Suburban Railway (Proastiakos) line in Athens, Greece, managed by Hellenic Train. The service connects Piraeus with the Airport. The line shares a part of its course with lines A2 and A4 as well as Metro line 3, but also with line A3 at Athens. The first Suburban line was inaugurated on 30 July 2004, using 17 OSE Class 560 DMUs between Larissa Station (Now Athens) and the Airport. A dot-matrix display is a low cost electronic digital display device that displays information on machines such as clocks, watches, calculators, and many other devices requiring a simple alphanumeric (and/or graphic) display device of limited resolution. Hellenic Train S.A., formerly TrainOSE S.A. ( el, ΤραινΟΣΕ Α.Ε., pronounced ''trenosé'') is a private railway company in Greece which currently operates passenger and freight trains on OSE lines.
