This is a list of members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, from the elections of 25 March; 9, 22 April 1874 to the elections of 11 May 1877. The Electoral district of South Bourke (sometimes Bourke South) was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in then Australian colony of Victoria. It was one of the original 36 electoral districts of the Assembly. It covered an area east of Melbourne, bounded by Dandenong Creek in the south and east, Moorabbin, Prahran and Hawthorn in the west and Templestowe in the north. It was abolished in 1889. The Electoral district of Normanby was an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Victoria, it covered an area from the South Australian border to Portland Bay. Edward Cohen
Edward Aaron Cohen (1822 – 13 April 1877) was an Australian merchant and a Victorian colonial politician. He served as Mayor of Melbourne from 1862 to 1863. Early life Cohen was born in London, the son of Henry Cohen and Elizabeth Cohen (''née'' Simmons). Cohen migrated from England to New South Wales in 1833. As a young man, he was employed by father in his firm H Cohen & Son. In 1842, Cohen moved to Melbourne and joined in a partnership with B. Francis in an auctioneering enterprise until 1853 where he went to Sydney and created a partnership with his brother and Alexander Fraser until 1864. In 1847, Cohen married Rebecca Benjamin and they had five sons and three daughters. In 1864, Cohen was a tea importer and merchant. Cohen was also director of various companies and worked with Benjamin Benjamin (who was his brother in law), Chairman Colonial Bank.
