Meltdown (Red Dwarf)
"Meltdown" is the sixth, and final, episode of science fiction sitcom '' Red Dwarf'' Series IV and the twenty-fourth episode in the series run. It was first broadcast on the British television channel BBC2 on 21 March 1991. Written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and directed by Ed Bye, the episode, featuring Wax-Droids of famous historical figures involved in a war of good versus evil, was originally supposed to open the series but was postponed due to the Gulf War conflict. Plot Kryten discovers a matter transporter paddle in the research lab of ''Red Dwarf'' – a device capable of transmitting an individual as light beams to another point in space within 500,000 light-years. Red Dwarf
''Red Dwarf'' is a British science fiction comedy franchise created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, which primarily consists of a television sitcom that aired on BBC Two between 1988 and 1999, and on Dave since 2009, gaining a cult following. The series follows low-ranking technician Dave Lister, who awakens after being in suspended animation for three million years to find that he is the last living human, and that he is alone on the mining spacecraft ''Red Dwarf''—save for a hologram his deceased bunkmate Arnold Rimmer and "Cat", a life form which evolved from Lister's pregnant cat. Roger Blake
Roger Donald Blake (born 21 December 1957 in Neath, Glamorgan) is a Welsh people, Welsh actor, impressionist and entertainer. He is best known for his portrayal of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip in ''Spitting Image'' and ''The Big Impression'' and Noël Coward in television commercials, and narrated Roald Dahl's The Enormous Crocodile, The Twits, as well as the ''Topsy and Tim'' animated series from 1984 to 1989. Kryten
Kryten is a fictional character in the British science fiction situation comedy ''Red Dwarf''. The name ''Kryten'' is a reference to the head butler in the J.M. Barrie play ''The Admirable Crichton''. Originally referred to as a Series III mechanoid, he is later described as a 4000 Series, or Series 4000. In their original plan for the series, Rob Grant and Doug Naylor had specified that there would be no aliens and no robots. Following the success of the first appearance by the Kryten character, Naylor convinced Grant to bring him back. In the character's first appearance, originally only intended as a one-off, Kryten was played by actor David Ross (actor), David Ross but the popularity of the character meant that Kryten was introduced as a regular in Series III. Edward Richard Morrison Bye (born 12 June 1955) is a British film and TV producer and director. He directed the episodes of the Science fiction, science-fiction British sitcom, sitcom ''Red Dwarf'' from List of Red Dwarf episodes, Series I-IV and VII-VIII. Doug Naylor
Douglas Rodger Naylor (born 31 December 1955) is an English comedy writer, science fiction writer, director and television producer. Life and career Naylor was born in Manchester, Lancashire, England, and studied at Chetham's School of Music and the University of Liverpool. In the mid-1980s Naylor created and wrote two comedy sketch shows for BBC Radio 4 entitled ''Cliché'' and '' Son of Cliché'', as well as two sitcoms,''Wrinkles'' and ''Wally Who?'' for the same station. These shows were scripted by Naylor along with another writer, Rob Grant. A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. "Holoship" is the first episode of Series V of the science fiction sitcom ''Red Dwarf'' and the twenty-fifth in the series run. It was first broadcast on the British television channel BBC2 on 20 February 1992 in the 9:00 PM evening time slot. It was written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and directed by Juliet May.
