Melodifestivalen 1987
Sweden selected an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 by holding a preselection show named ''Melodifestivalen 1987''. Out of 1,502 submitted songs and 12 songs in the final, the entry "Fyra Bugg och en Coca-Cola" was chosen. It was performed by Lotta Engberg, and written/composed by Christer Lundh and Mikael Wendt. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1987 Melodifestivalen 1987 was the selection for the 27th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 26th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1502 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg on 21 February 1987, was presented by Fredrik Belfrage and broadcast on TV1 and was not broadcast on radio. The winning song's title was changed to "Boogaloo" for the Eurovision Song Contest as it contained chewing gum brand Bugg as well drinks company Coca-Cola in the title. Lotta Engberg
Anna Charlotte "Lotta" Engberg (born Pedersen; 5 March 1963) is a Swedish singer. She represented Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with " Boogaloo" after winning Melodifestivalen 1987. She also tried many times in Melodifestivalen in 1984, 1988, 1990, 1996, 2002 and 2012. She was also a singer in a number of formations including " Trioala" early on, and in dansbands Lotta & Anders Engbergs orkester from 1989 to 1994, and after her divorce from Anders Engberg, in dansband Lotta Engbergs from 1994 until 2002. She continues now as a solo artist. On 2 October 1999, Sweden issued a postage stamp with her portrait. Arja Enni Helena Saijonmaa (born 1 December 1944 in Mikkeli) is a Finnish singer, political activist and occasional actress. Life and career She studied at the Sibelius Academy and earned a Bachelor of Arts at the Helsinki University. She made her breakthrough as a singer in Sweden. She has made albums with Swedish translations of songs by Mikis Theodorakis, as well as covers of Zarah Leander songs. "Dansa i neon" is a Swedish language song, sung by Swedish pop singer Lena Philipsson and finishing 5th at the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1987. "Dance in the Neon Light" is an English version of the Swedish language song. Style (Swedish Band)
Style is a Swedish pop band which had its greatest success in the 1980s. Style was formed by three former Freestyle members in 1983. They participated in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1986 with their song "Dover–Calais" finishing third, and 1987 with their song "Hand i hand" finishing sixth. Style split in 1989 due to musical differences. They were reunited again for the Swedish Melodifestivalen 2003 with their song "Stay the Night".
